Depends on the zombiefication process, is it something biological like a Virus or parasite, or something more obscure like voodoo or black magic.

In terms of a desease it will most likely start in a industrial meat farm or something meat related, slaughterhouse, wetmarket, ... These are the perfect breeding grounds for viruses/parasites/bacteria/... and there they will jump species from animals to humans.

In terms of vodoo or black magic, could be anywhere. Probably somewhere rural in poor undeveloped regions.

Or for both scenarios, in a War scenario, as a biological weapon.

Somewhere in Asia considering all the living things they eat, one of em is bout to discover a new disease at some point in life because you don't know what these creatures carry on them and if you are eating them then I don't know what else to say
