Why is my boyfriend's bird so aggressive?

It bites him and me a lot and isn't at all calm. It rarely sits on our hands and is just flying around us. What should we do?

I don’t have a real answer as I don’t know anything about birds. But I thought it was funny that I was thinking of why your boyfriend would do any of that lol.

The internet said that it is most likely afraid of you.

You must gain its trust and make friends with it and make sure it has a nice place to live and that it gets out of its cage often.

You must talk to it and show it that you aren't scary and that you are not scared of it. The bird must feel safe.

They like fruit and nuts.

They are very social creatures and so must not be allowed to get lonely.

They are intelligent and need toys to play with to keep them from getting bored.

Birds only act aggressively when they have trust problems.

How long has the bird been with you? Do you feed him regularly? Are you talking to him?

The more time you spend with him, the more he will get used to you. Also, don't take it in your hands unless you've earned his trust. This makes it even more aggressive.

Hahhahaa this parrot is extremely weird sometimes it can be as calm as the falls wind 🍃 but then other times it's as aggressive as a tiger lol

How old is it? How long has he had it? Birds usually bite when they're afraid. Does he ever do anything that would suggest he's ever relaxed such as cuddling or preening?

He is preening yes

OK, he probably just needs to earn your boyfriend's trust then. Consider how big he is to a bird. That's frightening. Is your boyfriend loud? Hyper at all? Try to be really calm around it. Matching it's stress with your own will only make it worse. Talk to it calmly offer it's favorite treat when it shows good behavior so you reinforce that behavior.

Some birds are taught to trust humans early on and some really aren't given much exposure to them. And as a result just need to learn to be socialized to humans.

It might take a few weeks. Don't force it just have him interact with about 5 minutes a day or so. If he's responding well he can do a little more. But the little fella will bond when he's ready.
