You are the CEO of a huge, global corporation headquartered in your country. You've just learned that one of your facilities located in another country has exploded, not only killing all of your employees there, but killing hundreds of local citizens.

What's the first thing you do?

Sell your stock.

Call your country's ambassador/embassy in the country where the incident happened.

Gather your PR and legal team and senior staff to strategize and craft a statement/press release.

Find the corporate helicopter and head for your vacation house.

Host a press conference.

Wait for reports and more information.

Thanks everybody for the great answers! I personally would start with C, gathering counsel and staff, then B, calling the Ambassador, while doing F, getting the additional information.

I'd verify the information- probably actively seeking it out, instead of just passively waiting for it to come. You don't want to put out a report mourning the loss before you confirm that it's true. If I'm going to mess with stock prices, I'm going to do it more creatively, like by holding a press conference to announce clearly and decisively, but with absolutely no supporting evidence, that the company vice president is not, I repeat, NOT Batman, and that NASA did NOT pick up rover camera footage of him having a clandestine meeting with Oprah Winfrey on the surface of Mars.

Let THEM figure it out.

I am a Business Owner... two actually. Not Standards corporate BUT I still don't do much in this Administration without Tax Attorney or Liability/Criminal if required. Some of my stuff is International. Asian laws and Western Law and Contracts... Increase Government tax base is the only thing that helps me out.
