the New Testament says to forgive your neighbor and treat others as you want to be treated. The Torah is the old law.

Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is not about equity in retribution. It’s about restraint. Not to go beyond the harm that was done to you. Forgiveness is a good goal.
