(Fairly new to driving)
Was it necessary for them to flash their headlights behind me?

Trending & News I think it was rude and unnecessary. You did the right thing to drive safely for you.
You will find a lot of people are intolerant of those who don't know a road as they do. Like on a country trip I won't know the road ahead and how fast I can go around bends. So I drive conservatively. Stuff'em if they are annoyed I haven't driven that rad a 1,000 times as they have.
In a similar circumstance to you, I've been stopped first at a red light and the car behind has been horning me to go through the red. He knew the red light was about to change but I didn't. Still not going through a red for a couple of seconds.
People are getting more and more entitled.
They are just impatient. Try the speed that you feel safe at.

They are letting you know they are about to pass and for you to not anything erratic. This is actually a courtesy from the passing driver.
Thanks
Don't ever drive faster than you feel comfortable, especially at night. If someone is tailgating you, just pull over and let them pass.
TURN them headlights on.
They were on they’re always on auto
Auto doesn't always mean they go on. Tech made by humans is very great... When it works properly. 😞 (Not blaming u by the way.) I just know how bad things can go when modern convince isn't up to snuff. After a long time of doing quality assurance. You start expecting disasters lol.
