My older friend (33 years old) has no luck in the dating world for some reason. She didn't want to be childless anymore so she's currently 4 months pregnant with a sperm donor.

The sperm she got injected came from a young 26 year-old man with blonde hair, blue eyes and 6'3, strong, tall guy. She wanted her child to come from a fit, strong, young man with great physical genes.

In fact, sperm banks are extremely picky as to who they will accept donations from because most women want what they want... and they don't want their kids to look ugly, be unhealthy, or stupid. They want the best for their kids so, generally, they pick accordingly.

This is especially so in this sort of situation because love is not involved. She doesn't really know the personality of the donor. He could be a complete douchebag that she'd dump after 2 dates despite the fabulous gene. In a donation scenario in which the donor is anonymous and not part of the woman's or child's life in any way, this is all about the genetics. And, so, she wants the best for her kids.

Looking for good genes is normal. But only to look at their physical attributes is stupid. The 26 yo could be an axe murderer or retarded.

Having a child without a partner puts the child statistically on the back foot too.

No, but that combination of genes isn't actually any more structurally fit than most other combinations. So I do find it surprising that people today would think otherwise.

Tall people actually typically live shorter lives, and blond hair is technically less structurally durable/thinner than darker shades.

I do assume though that superficiality in women is more common than it is in men, because men more commonly have mental depth to them (hobbies, varied interests, passions, sciences, arts, etc.) Women can as well, but most choose not to, and when a person is not deep, they tend to not need much more than looks and security in a partner, which of course, makes them superficial.

This is why female gold diggers are much more common than male ones, and why women tend to more often care about sex, marriage, babies, and making themselves look pretty, over having fun at a good career, passion, or hobby.

Most women I've ever met were extremely superficial, but would never admit it. And about half of the men I met were superficial, too. ("No fat chicks.") I'd be more surprised by a woman who held herself accountable for her actions and admitted she's the reason for her own failures or shortcomings.

I understand about our gender focusing on a man's resource but didn't think much that if a woman had the option of who she wants to get pregnant from... she was so selective about his looks and care so much about it coming from a young, fit man. My friend sure didn't want an old sperm in his late 30's to early 40's; she select a young sperm.
