How do gamers afford so much?

How do you gamers afford so much? Are you people Rich? Normal people couldn’t possibly afford to splurge all their money on video games. How can you people afford all the newest games and such expensive games. They’re all so expensive like $60-70 dollars if not over $100. How do you even afford of it?

Where the heck are you that you're seeing games for a over a hundred bucks? Australia? Canada? Some other country that can't come up with its own name for its unit of currency?

Anyway, most of us don't buy the very expensive editions- even a just-released game will have a base version that rarely exceeds sixty bucks, if that. Given that that was the release price of Warcraft 1 almost thirty years ago, it's impressive that it's still that cheap (although of course production and shipping costs are gone now, at least for digital copies. We usually grab things when they go on sale, which is both frequent and easy to track (with tools like and just grab the new releases for games we're particularly anticipating. And if you don't limit yourself to new stuff, you can find old classics for just a few dollars, or even less; some places give them away FREE. Hell, if you're not picky about Chinese spyware, Epic routinely gives away NEWISH stuff for free.

And think of the entertainment in terms of hours per dollar. If a movie ticket costs $10 for a two-hour movie, what would be the exchange rate for a game you spend dozens if not hundreds of hours on? Not every game is that type, of course, but most of the ones you remember are.

I’m from the U. S. like all my streamer friends and gamer friends, somehow have the newest game within a few days to a few weeks of release. I don't know how that’s possible cuz it’s like $60-70 for each game. Playstation 5 have games that cost up to $80.

Well, streamers are a different story- they're either going to have supporters, or companies directly, giving them new games so they can show them off.

It's called "investment".

They swap out and sell the older parts for newer parts and thus don't pay the full price. As for games, they will usually not buy just every game coming. Rather, only the ones they genuinely want to play.

Not sure I really count as a gamer. I do sometimes play pc games. For price: A lot of sales, A shared steam family account and other free games from gifting websites. I dont buy the newest games though.
But honestly most hobbies do cost money and gaming even seems to be a cheap one if you look at how you can start.
My bigger hobbies do cost even more money than his gaming. If you look at what you could spend for a few different hobby I think even than is gaming quite cheap in comparrison.
But I agree 60 minimum for a new game IS expensive.
