I was walking home to my neighborhood and a dog was following me in my neighborhood? Why is that dog following me?

I was so scared, I ran home. It was evening but dark. The dog is white and it look like a wolf, someone said it's a wolf dog

It might have been lost or abandoned. Dogs are pack animals. If it was only following you it might have been doing it out of security for itself.
I doubt it was defending turf it would have approached you with warning barking or charge you.
There are small signs/tells dogs give off with how they position their bodies that give a lot of information, if you know what to look for.

Dogs are pack animals. It may have been lost or possibly abandoned. I doubt it was a wolf, wolves are very large and I feel like you would know if you were looking at a wolf. But it also depends on where you live and if wolves are in the area. For example I live in Canada near the mountains and there are wolf packs in the area; so I have to be super vigilant when walking my dogs

Dogs can run much faster than humans. If it wanted to catch you, it would have. But it didn’t.
