Is resisting and running away from cops always wrong or justified in the heat of moment of fight or flight situation if you sense serious danger?

I feel like we ignore this very instinctual aspect of fight-or-flight. An arrest is just a government-approved kidnapping. There’s absolutely nothing normal about being overtaken by one or more people, physically restrained, and taken somewhere else against your will. Everyone is wired their own way, so there will never be any uniform response to the stimulus of an attempted arrested. Some are more defeatist or just well-trained, I suppose, and will go quietly. But others will fight like they’re fighting for their very survival.
I’m also just thinking now about wrongful arrest too. If I’m innocent and I know it, I can’t even IMAGINE being like “you think I’VE done something? How curious. Well, let’s just go down to the station and sort out this little misunderstanding, or I’ll just have my day in court.” Are you fucking kidding me? Lmfao, no fucking chance, and honestly, I’d think you were a little nuts if you DID respond that way.
What seems clear to me is that cops need to just let a motherfucker get away sometimes, lmao. I know that sounds funny, but seriously, we can’t have police seriously injuring or killing people because their ego can’t handle taking the L. Plus, half the time the runner is abandoning a vehicle, pretty sure you can catch up with them later instead of gunning them down because they have you dusted by 30 yards.
I don’t know what the answer is, by I know for sure that the current protocol is WAY too much.
Reading some other opinions here…. I don’t want to put words in anyone else’s mouth, but I’ll just say many of these opinions echo those of people who I know to also have a “fuck around and find out” mentality (oh man, am I sick and tired of that phrase, I always want to go “harrrrrrrrrd-oooooooo” to people who say that😂) when it comes to their own personal protection or even vague ideas of threats towards their perceived freedom. But then they spin around and say they expect an arrested suspect to be totally compliant and orderly, or else risk at very least a beating. That just says to me that they themselves don’t ever truly envision themselves on the wrong end of it, and think of cops as the “muscle” for their own value system, and no sympathy for anyone who strays outside of their desired boundaries. And that’s before you even get into prejudicial treatment due to race. Some people certainly make it clear who they’re rooting for in life, lmao.
It's likely most run from the cops because they don't want to go back to jail.
They should actually teach people how to interact with cops. You act like a criminal they treat you like one. Best to always comply completely with them, even if you know you don't have to, especially if you've nothing to hide.
Running from the cops is likely going to get you shot in the back. Resisting arrest is like going to get you hurt or killed. If you resist arrest you are turning the situation into an unpredictable one for cops in which they might get hurt or hurt you.
All it does is make you look guilty and that you are fleeing some crime. These same people usually fight with the cops, which is why they may get "beat up". There have been many cases where the person fighting tries to get the cop's gun and one of the combatants winds up dying.
Who gives a damn if you look guilty or not when your life and safety is in danger?
And exactly why would your life be in danger unless they were Zombie cops? Cops have as much to fear from the people they are dealing with. Cops die too in their dealings, like in traffic stops, ambushes, warrant serving, or domestic abuse calls. If I was a cop in today's world I would consider everyone a possible killer. Don't we have enough to fear with people killing your for hardly any reason at all? If you fear cops, then don't dial 911 and deal with these thugs yourself.
Besides, don't you trust God to protect you?
Trye Nichols is totally innocent and possibly has no criminal record at all minding his own business on his way home when cops pulled him over, dragged him out of his car (which is against the law to envade someone's personal space and property without probable cause) and began to beat and verbally abuse him and you don't think he was justified in running away from those out of control demons posing as a cops?
People like you are the problem why police and policing is totally out of control in this country.
Japan has criminals and Nordic countries have criminals yet their cops don't like the ones in the U. S and you don't see a problem with that except in saying BS don't dial 911 when in danger. Unbelievable.
You are assuming ALL cops are bad. The cops in some big cites, like New York, are always thought to be on the take because in the past they were. And I'm sure some cops in small communities may be power hungry and aggressive, but that is far from most/all cops. I live in Orange County, Calif., and most of the crimes around here are done by Latino gangs. But that doesn't mean all Latinos are bad, does it? I have also read time and again where some dip shits are fleeing the police and run a red light and kill someone in an accident. If you are a cop you may have seen this happen in front of you. So maybe people shouldn't try and run. If you walk down a dark alley you may get mugged or raped. So if you don't want that to happen then you be smart and don't walk down a dark alley at 2 am. The same for driving a car. Don't try running from the cops and they may not haul you out of a car and rough you up for endangering innocent people's lives.
Go re-read my original question. I never said all cops are bad.
My question has to do with if one is in a situation where they feel theathen and in danger for their life and safety is it always wrong or justified to resist arrest or running away from the cop or cops that are makinb you feel unsafe?
But why would they feel their life was in danger from a cop unless they were high and tripping out?
Because cops can often act very aggressive and start to put hands on people unlawfully.
Absolutely it is wrong to run away from the cops. The cops are our protection from danger. Someone was harassing me only because I voted republican and if it wasn't for the cops God knows what would have happened to me.

Would an innocent man flee?
No you wouldn’t, running away makes it obvious you’ve done something wrong.
If a policeman came up to me or knocked on my door I’d just ask what they wanted I wouldn’t run away as you look guilty before you start.
Also the Bible lays out a "cities of refuge" concept for an innocent person fleeing false judgement and vengeance from a falsely accusing family. The defendant flees to the city of refuge until a fair trial is arranged. If anyone falsely accuses someone of a death penalty, the false accuser is put to death instead.
It's always wrong... and dumb. Running can take a simple situation and escalate it into something really bad. Plus, running is usually futile, the police will eventually get you. It's better to face the music.
Unless they're acting way outside their jurisdiction, acting as assassins rather than officers. Then, you run to warn others, not save yourself.
no you shouldn't be resisting or running away. you're only making yourself look more guilty by disobeying them.
So you mean to tell me if you are in a situation where you feel very uncomfortable and theathen by a police officer, you will risk getting abused, seriously hurt and potentially get killed rather than trying to save your life by escaping danger from a stranger who is acting very unreasonable and erratic towards you?
You can't be serious? Are you actually this intellectually dull?
In a situation where you can be left deaf, blind in one eye or permanently brain damage etc in the heat of the moment when your safety is at risk you have about 2 seconds to make a decision of fight or flight and you actually think a person is going to be thinking about suing someone?
Your best bet is either to fight in self defense or run away and turn yourself in later but the worse decision is to stay in a situation where you are already in danger.
It's called turning yourself in. If cops are putting my life and safety in danger I'm not going to stand there and get abuse as if I'm a pinata.
in the USA... I would never run away from cops
in Mexico... depending on the situation, I wouldn't even stop for the "cops"
The Mexican cops are all on the take.
@Daniela1982 I would tell you that is not all of them... but in my case, it is all of them, lol
The vast majority of cases running away from Cops makes things worse not better. If it doesn't get you killed it's likely to get you beaten up pretty badly. It is impossible to outrun a bullet and it's impossible to outrun a police dog. Most cops use bullets and all of them use dogs. It just simply doesn't make any sense.
It's a case by case basis. In the case of Memphis, I honestly believe he was running for his life and that did turn out to be true. In the case of a George Floyd, he had absolutely no reason to resist and that also resulted in his death.
It's not wise to do resistance with law enforcement. They may think you're guilty when you run away. Get out on your knees and put your hands up, or follow their instructions.
😂😂 you sound like total little submmisive punk.
It’s a normal response. Anybody who disagrees should put their MAGA hat on!
Normal? Only for those who are breaking the law and don't want to go to jail.
If someone points a gun at you, you’re saying you wouldn’t try to run?
Not from a cop. You would be liable to get shot if you move wrong. I'm curious. Who would you call if a gang was trying to break into your house? Ghostbusters?
Facts remain that cops shoot black men at higher rates so if a cop pulls a gun on me you bet I will be running.
And did you ever notice that most of the killings in the news are being done by blacks? So maybe we should run from blacks too.
Never a good idea. It only makes the situation worse. Plus you will catch another charge or two.
Bs if these people complied from the very beginning there’d be no animosity from cops towards them
You are as smart and socially aware as a tool in the shed.
I stand by my word. I made no false statement
It’s never a good idea unless they are in plain clothes and you don’t realize they are cops undercover
To the cops it's always going to be wrong lol.
always wrong
Yes.
