I feel like we ignore this very instinctual aspect of fight-or-flight. An arrest is just a government-approved kidnapping. There’s absolutely nothing normal about being overtaken by one or more people, physically restrained, and taken somewhere else against your will. Everyone is wired their own way, so there will never be any uniform response to the stimulus of an attempted arrested. Some are more defeatist or just well-trained, I suppose, and will go quietly. But others will fight like they’re fighting for their very survival.
I’m also just thinking now about wrongful arrest too. If I’m innocent and I know it, I can’t even IMAGINE being like “you think I’VE done something? How curious. Well, let’s just go down to the station and sort out this little misunderstanding, or I’ll just have my day in court.” Are you fucking kidding me? Lmfao, no fucking chance, and honestly, I’d think you were a little nuts if you DID respond that way.
What seems clear to me is that cops need to just let a motherfucker get away sometimes, lmao. I know that sounds funny, but seriously, we can’t have police seriously injuring or killing people because their ego can’t handle taking the L. Plus, half the time the runner is abandoning a vehicle, pretty sure you can catch up with them later instead of gunning them down because they have you dusted by 30 yards.
I don’t know what the answer is, by I know for sure that the current protocol is WAY too much.

It's likely most run from the cops because they don't want to go back to jail.
They should actually teach people how to interact with cops. You act like a criminal they treat you like one. Best to always comply completely with them, even if you know you don't have to, especially if you've nothing to hide.
Running from the cops is likely going to get you shot in the back. Resisting arrest is like going to get you hurt or killed. If you resist arrest you are turning the situation into an unpredictable one for cops in which they might get hurt or hurt you.
All it does is make you look guilty and that you are fleeing some crime. These same people usually fight with the cops, which is why they may get "beat up". There have been many cases where the person fighting tries to get the cop's gun and one of the combatants winds up dying.
Absolutely it is wrong to run away from the cops. The cops are our protection from danger. Someone was harassing me only because I voted republican and if it wasn't for the cops God knows what would have happened to me.

Would an innocent man flee?
No you wouldn’t, running away makes it obvious you’ve done something wrong.
If a policeman came up to me or knocked on my door I’d just ask what they wanted I wouldn’t run away as you look guilty before you start. It's always wrong... and dumb. Running can take a simple situation and escalate it into something really bad. Plus, running is usually futile, the police will eventually get you. It's better to face the music.
no you shouldn't be resisting or running away. you're only making yourself look more guilty by disobeying them.

in the USA... I would never run away from cops
in Mexico... depending on the situation, I wouldn't even stop for the "cops" The vast majority of cases running away from Cops makes things worse not better. If it doesn't get you killed it's likely to get you beaten up pretty badly. It is impossible to outrun a bullet and it's impossible to outrun a police dog. Most cops use bullets and all of them use dogs. It just simply doesn't make any sense.
It's a case by case basis. In the case of Memphis, I honestly believe he was running for his life and that did turn out to be true. In the case of a George Floyd, he had absolutely no reason to resist and that also resulted in his death.
It’s a normal response. Anybody who disagrees should put their MAGA hat on!
It's not wise to do resistance with law enforcement. They may think you're guilty when you run away. Get out on your knees and put your hands up, or follow their instructions.
Never a good idea. It only makes the situation worse. Plus you will catch another charge or two.
Bs if these people complied from the very beginning there’d be no animosity from cops towards them
It’s never a good idea unless they are in plain clothes and you don’t realize they are cops undercover
To the cops it's always going to be wrong lol.
always wrong
