Which car is best for a first car at age 23?

I will be commuting to work part-time, but I also do online school and live with my family. As to why I don't have my DL yet, I will explain later.

Honestly it can be anything as long as it's less than $10,000. Obviously that means no brand spankin' new ones. I don't care for fuel efficiency, as long as it takes me from A to B. I plan on using it as a project car too.

Well obviously the most reliable and economical option would be some basic commuter car - Accord, Civic, Camry, Corolla, etc. Small SUVs like a rav4 or CRV would be an option.
Or for more of a project a 4th gen camaro of firebird or a SN95/new edge mustang are reliable and easy to work on with tons of aftermarket support. 90s pickups are dirt cheap and easy to work on too

What if it is a V6 that is smaller than an I4? Like a 1.8 Mitsubishi V6?

I am 290,000 2012 Mazda 4 door driver. Only nice car i ever had i inherited. Still have never had a new car. Cars are Loss from the beginning.
