Why is that more and more people these days can not follow their own conversations?

especially when said conversation is electronically stored and in front of them when they get lost. as an example: person A texts person B "do you need anything from the store because i am stopping by there?"

person B responds "can you get milk and a sandwich?"

then person A responds with something to the effect of "why did you text me milk and a sandwich?"

these days this is happening more often with more people imcluding supposed highly intelligent people.

I don't understand why this happens either. Maybe they're stressed and have too many things on their minds, so they end up forgetting things. Or they're texting a lot of people at the same time so it gets confusing.

I find it annoying but it doesn't make me question their intelligence. I wonder if they're ok or if they're joking.
