Have you noticed how a HUGE percentage of people in present times, suck at maintaining a conversation these days?

Look around, and see how so many people that are with their romantic partner, friend, relative, coworker, etc eventually pull out their phones because they don't know what else to say. Doesn't matter if it is just two people, more than 2 people, huge groups, etc. , you see so many people (or all of them) pull out their phone in that one group, when they can be talking to each other.

"Back in the day" when my husband and I were dating, we'd sit together at the same side of the table and talk the whole time. We used to spot older couples who would read a newspaper or magazine at the table without talking. We vowed to never be like them (so far so good). My point is that I don't think it's so much the era as the device that changed.

I get what you are saying. Do you agree though, that a lot more people suck at maintaining a conversation these present times, than the past though?

Yes. It seems like teenagers and young adults especially have difficulty.

because they can't think with their brain their phone tells them how to think and speak, we are turning into dumb asses I am so glad that I was born 67 years ago and not now

Younger people place FAR too much reliance on their digital communications and have failed to develop reasonably proficient social skills.
