Does it seem like people do not know how to hold conversations anymore?

I like to think I am a social guru and love getting to know new types of people but it seems like most people have a very difficult time holding quality conversations. Has anyone else seen similar?

Probably true with most people nowadays, but there's always been others who are just shy, have social anxiety or are just quiet people/more introverted. I can easily hold a conversation with certain people I'm comfortable around, yet with others I'm more reserved and my mind automatically goes blank with things to talk about. There are some people I know around my age who are very outgoing and bubbly, then others who barely say two words in a soft-spoken tone. it's just different spectrums of individuals I suppose.

I can talk with my female friends just fine but there are a lot of men who want environmental or circumstantial data that is object specific and conditionally qualitative and that puts me in a coterie I do not have the personal knowledge base to engage in.

I've always thought it goes both ways... sometimes people just don't feel like it, or are not really interested on having a conversation with someone, but will do have great ones with other people...

Yes yes, I had a friend and he was giving me such short and dry answers, and he was saying: this is my characteristic feature.

Yeahh, ik how it is like... I'm one of those people who can't hold a conversation lol. Specially irl 😅

I've always been introverted but after lockdown I got worse and have become white detached from other people. I can't think of convo starters nor anything to talk about, rlly.

So, I'm not sure what the people you've been trying to get to know are like nor their situation but if they're really quiet, then they might be like me.

I've seen this a lot. Especially on dating apps where frankly being able to hold a conversation is quite important
