I believe under the law, if one was known for a fact to be innocent, then they would release them all to save the one innocent one. My opinion, personally, could not stomach releasing 49 killers, but I don't think I could knowingly send the one innocent to death.

Re-socialization of impulsive inmates doesn't work and 49 free murderers will kill more people if they are free than one guy. If someones objective is to save as much lives as possible is sacrificing this one innocent guy the price that has to be paid.
