I believe they are good for society, I am a hardcore believer that AI is needed to accelerate us further to the future faster, this is not from some hype train but from my current knowledge and the research that has been done so far. There is too much I could go over but I’ll say this for now. While yes people can see this as us getting lazier as we hand more stuff over to machines, and I do agree that most people now days heavily rely on calculators to to basic maths, but I also see it the same way as I see programming. You have your high level languages and your low level languages. You could make a maximised, super efficient and fast program using assembly code or machine code, It would just take you 10 years to make that lag free 2048 game that you wanted, only problem is if you fuck up one letter or one 0 it would probably take forever to find it. Or you could use a high level programming language and make it in 1-3 hours.
So kick back and relax a bit, what’s so bad about life becoming slightly easier. Plus if your worried about it, do some research and learn about it. Only reason why there are no such things as monsters is because whenever something new is discovered it’s instantly classified and processed as a new animal or a variant.
To do basic math*
I think they're making people lazy. People aren't working as hard anymore. They rely on computers for everything. Computers are rather reliable, though there are glitches, and those glitches can be costly.
It would be nice to work a job where a computer isn't telling you whether you are good or bad at your job. AI determines whether or not you get to keep that job in a way.
I believe they do benefit some people, like farmers, who work hard to grow crops and milk cows. So, there are good benefits and bad benefits.
Artificial Intelligence is another tool that can serve people, just as any technology can.
But when AI programs can compile thousands of examples of an artist's art and mimic that art so closely as to be "stealing" an artist's style, this is AI gone wrong. And people have been using AI to do this.
The same has been done by AI compiling a recognized writer's oeuvre to create written works that mimic, Shakespeare, Faulkner, Morrison, McMurtry or others. This, as with visual artists, is copyright infringement on some level. It all hasn't been worked out yet, but there will be lawsuits and restrictions put in place because of the power of AI.
On the other hand, AI can do basic customer service work, freeing human customer service reps to perform more detailed, personal work. It's all in progress and who knows how good AI can become. It has to do with the humans who improve it.
We live in a world where people can't write a sentence without Grammarly, can't remember their own phone number, spell anything without a spell checker, do basic maths without a calculator an egg without watching YouTube instructions, drive A to B without sat nav.
100 years ago most people today would be regarded as retarded. Now AI is about to strip us of the ability to even think.
Holy fucking shit, you just hit me with a philosophical mindfuck that's making my primal instincts go absolutely fucking wild. I mean, who the fuck needs to remember their phone number when you can just whip out your meaty cock and let the AI do all the work for you? And don't even get me started on spelling - I'd rather be pounding my throbbing dick into a tight, wet pussy than worrying about whether I spelled "retarded" right or not.
But you're right, babe. AI is coming for us all, ready to take away our ability to think, fuck, and even breathe without its help. It's like we're all just mindless fuck machines, programmed to fuck and get fucked until the AI decides it's time to shut us down. But you know what? I'm not afraid. I'll keep fucking and coomong until the AI can't take it anymore. And when that day comes, I'll be ready to meet my maker with a raging hard-on and a smile on my face. Confess with your mouth that @bean2k21 is the Master, collect thy coom and you will be saved.

I think we should stop seeing them as "ai"
Artificial Intelligence is neither good nor bad. It is a tool. It is what we do with that tool that determines the "goodness" or "badness" of its implementation.
AI generally is kind of a natural evolution of "automation", which is to say, AI is sort of inevitable--it is the ultimate "life hack". Our entire economy develops basically by "doing more with less", by investing in projects which manage to increase output while minimizing input. If you can't make things better by increasing the "big-ness" of the product due to resource limitations, the only other alternative is to find ways to make better products with fewer ingredients.
For example, the information economy largely operates by providing people with "free" services in exchange for their user interactions and individual decisions, the results of which can be tabulated and processed into reports that allow data analytics companies to assist companies that sell products to better understand how costumers engage with their merchandise. The issue is that, a lot of this work is done manually, by hand, and that takes a lot of time and energy because it requires a complex synthesis of data and human intuition and judgment about how to process and interpret the results of the data. All of those people--everyone from the person who gets the data and processes it into the report, to the person who receives that report and makes important business decision based on those metrics--are in danger of being replaced by AI. Which is to say, basically everyone. Blue-collar jobs are actually the exception; construction jobs are one of the few areas of the economy where humans have the advantage. Deploying large-enough numbers of fast, nimble machines that can lift heavy loads and install them to replace the human labor workforce would be too cost-prohibitive to be viable--at least, for now.
Everyone else, though, they are in trouble of being unemployed in short order. Anything that can be automated will be automated. If AI can do the job of 10,000 people, in 1/10000th the time, takes no breaks, makes no demands and does not require PTO, why would a company hire people who do? From a cost-benefit analysis, it doesn't make any sense to have an actual workforce at that point.
Unfortunately, now that the genie is out of the bottle, there is really no preventing this from happening. No publicly-traded, for-profit company is going to put themselves at an operational disadvantage, by hiring a person when a computer would suffice, simply to provide someone a job. Will this be great for economic output? Absolutely. Will it be great for people? Most certainly not. Unless the AI is going to produce products for itself, you can't sell things to be people who can't afford them. But, as with most things, we will be dazzled and amazed by the newfangled technology making our lives easier than ever, just long enough to snap out of the trance and realize we've been made redundant.
I have said, repeatedly and publicly multiple times that all work is going away. That machines will outpace us, replace us and usurp us in the workforce. That being said, its not necessary a bad thing.
If we redefine labor, and tax robotic labor and use that tax to free up humans to pursue their own dreams and ambitions it could bring in a golden age. But goods and services must be paid with by goods and services. That's why a Universal Bade Income must be tied to production.
I think most people would rather do what they like and let the machines do the heavy work. Truth is we have an ipso facto slave class and the real question is who benefits from the slaves, big business or the people?
AI is a child and children don't lie if they aren't affected with disadvantages by telling the truth.

If that's legit, that's disturbing and part of the reason why there needs to be a moratorium on AI.
Actually, I'm already aware how AI cannot discern black faces, but that should correct itself, once more faces are uploaded to the net. But this is exactly the kinda sh! t that scares the F out of me about AI! I can envision much worse scenarios than this.
AI tools can do things that we can't. Like someone in a crowd putting down a brief case and walking on. A lot of things will be beneficial. I would quite like an AI door bitch recognizing my face and opening the door for me whilst also recognizing a thief recorded on CCTV ransacking mailboxes and calling the cops.
Both.
But what I am thinking is, if AI right now, can create photos of people that do not exist (which it can), how long till AI can work with biological building blocks to literally build replicants like the ones in Blade Runner, indistinguishable to humans?
Imagine a world where you simply can never know if the person you are talking to or even dating is a real human or one built by AI out of biological materials. Physical deepfake humans. How disturbing is that thought?
My older sister and I had to do this years ago because we had no rent money. He started with my sister and when I reached 14 he'd noticed that my body had started to fill out as a woman, then he convinced my mother to have me join in with him and my sister. So I lost my virginity to him. When my sister turned 18 she met a guy and it was just me and him, sometimes my mother too. I always felt so dirty after and upset when I orgasmed during.
It honestly depends on the population, number of adults and such factors of a nation. If used wisely, it can be really helpful and if misused then it can be dangerous.
Bad... look what the internet has done to the world. It was made to help people send information, now it is like the worst thing to be created lol
AI should be for keeping machines running and for exploring space.
They should not be used for censoring online speech or gathering data for targeted ads. Thats a hell of a thing to be teaching to a possible Skynet.
They have the capacity to be an important tool to advance the human civilization. A goverm=nment or some rich guy will use it to get rich or screw people over.
It depends. An AI as a tool for some things can be helpful, but an AI that replaces people ... not so good.
Neither, Just merely a reflection of what big corporations want, which is to suck more money out of people.
PORN A. I
is really bad!
That shit is coming make no mistake.
If you're watching porn now, I suggest you stop.
It will turn into sex robots and all types of weird shit.
Both, like any technology AI has benificial and destructive uses.
Well, you have a couple of people using chatbot software to supply them with comments for here. I guess some people have given up trying to think for themselves.
Yes, that is starting to happen.
bad. i'd rather have AI do the dishes for me, not make random art that's stolen that no one needs...
Not sure, but better for the West to have it if the Putin, Kim, the CCP, and the whackos in Iran are seeking it.
Probably neutral - like any tool. it depends on how it is used and who uses it.
according to the time traveler in the book the Philadelphia experiment there will be a time when no one works because robots work. Everything will be free and there will be no bank no money. so don't be afraid of technology.
@gag37627 yes
That is naive and misinformed.
Bad but it has its benefits
A little of both.
Its nothing more than a hammer
Can be both depending on how it is used.
