When they desensitize and "gain self-worth" from mere appearances, you're right, it's garbage, it's shallow, it's cold, and it's certainly falsified. In any scenario or place of problems/ need for improvement, self-image (outwardly) is nowhere near as important as productivity and solidarity.
BUT
in a world finally at rest because everyone is settled... and people decided to stop wasting other people's time... self-image is really an art, and it's totally acceptable when all are at rest and then have that time to be expressive and just BE.

I think the heart plays a big role in admirable beauty, but inclusiveness is never a bad thing, either.
Everyone should be and believe they're qualified humans with some exceptional things about them.
To be frank, if someone gave me the Down Syndrome Barbie, I'd know that it was either a complete joke or that we are not friends. I don't even think the Down Syndrome girls want a Down Syndrome Barbie. I like the Black Barbies and the Asian and Hispanic ones, but no others after that. Not the short ones, not the "thick" ones, and not the "in-between" Barbie and Kens (if you catch my drift).

I think it's good they are showing all body types. It's not hurting anyone to do so. Some stuff are stupid yes but the people that play with these stuff are kids (unless the adult freaks). Children's brains are extremely sensitive. So I don't see the issue with a child with down syndrome getting a barbie doll with down syndrome. I mean people with down syndrome are pushed outside society. People want to abort them. Them getting a doll that looks like them is fine by me.
I love this question! I appreciate that they have so many different types of Barbies just like there are different types of humans in the world. I could only buy Indian and white Barbies though. The others were unavailable in my country. I would play with a group of friends after school when I was a child. My favourite was the Indian bride Barbie. Reminiscing about those days brings a smile to my face 😊
