Mystery: Why would a firetruck and a cop show up at a house?

I mainly work from home, and since my window opens to our entire block, I see everything and everyone coming and going everyday. Today a firetruck pulled up to my neighbors house, no sirens, 3 firemen got out, went into the house, didn't seem rushed, so I figured it was the gas leak situation maybe back since we've had this issue in our neighborhood before, but then the firemen came out of the house, not rushed, very casual. A half hour later, two of the neighbors family/friends pulled up and went inside the house. Right after that, a cop came, again, calm, not rushed, no gun drawn, no backup, and he was by himself. About 20 minutes later, the firetruck left, and the cop has remained for the last hour. A mother in her 70s and older daughter live there, both are super friendly and easy going, and the daughter is not home since her truck isn't there meaning I 100% doubt it would be anything domestic.

Super nosy and curious, what do you think this could be about?

It could have been an ems call, someone may have fallen and needed help getting and was not injured, aka a tip up, or a smoke or CO detector activated and there wasn't any cause.
Usually if it is more than just a smell of gas and an actual gas leak they would have helped her out of the house for her safety.

None of that checks out with this scenario. It's still a head scratcher. The lone cop ended up staying at the house for close to four hours after the firemen left. If it were some type of emergency, not a single fireman or the cop seemed like they needed to hurry, coming or going and she never left the house and no ambulance was ever called (and no coroner van, so she's still alive). I checked the active records for my area, and the call wasn't listed as an EMS or active police call so maybe this was something else, but for the life of me I cannot figure out what.

generally, we don't run like you see on TV, too many falls that way.
Could have been a welfare check, she was frightened and needed to be checked out, a no transport/refusal, diabetic issue and PD stayed on scene any number of things.
With HIPPA it is pretty much impossible to know what happened.
Or you can mosey over and ask if she/he/they need anything and that might just open the door for you.

Tried calling twice the next day, no answer at the door. I was leaning on the side of a welfare check especially since other people showed up after the firemen left while the cop was still there. I don't know specifically what her health issues are, but she has some. I'm not assuming this is like some tv show. I've had to call 9-11 a lot due to my former job, my neighbor is a retired fireman (he tried to also check on the situation), I have friends who are police and who have worked for EMS, and my other now deceased neighbor had fire and rescue on the block nearly every other month which we regularly would talk to. I might sound like a nut job trying to figure this out, but I really do care about my neighbors having lived here so long and especially with a few of them being elderly. Even though they aren't my personal responsibility, if I were older and perhaps alone, I'd want someone to make sure I was alright or to check and see if I was okay. Thanks for your help in trying to figure it out. I just hope everyone is or will be okay.

It could have been the gas leak. If you really wanna know. Just ask. Could have also been a medical situation since she’s older

No ambulance was ever called and there would be no reason for a cop to be called and then to stay as long as he has with no other firemen or ambulance present (he's been there 2 hours now by himself).

Also I can't go over there while they are still there. Might be in the way of whatever it all is, but I do plan to go over if the cop ever leaves...

True. As of right now, another car pulled up to their house, cop is still there, so I have no clue. Will have to wait. My other neighbor (ex fireman himself) walked by, looked in the cop car, but saw no one there and walked back to his house.

Usually when there is a death inside the house, you won't get all the bells and whistles. She could have been overcome from the gas fumes.
The corner had to come to get the body, and that takes many many hours.

Thought that too, but no van ever came and I have security cams as well that would have seen even if I missed that just sitting and working.

She might have called 911 saying she smells gas. The firemen were checking it out with their meter. The cops show up because they are supposed to when the fire department is called.

Probably called operator first who notified police.
