Absolutely, if you’re curious about the police presence in your neighborhood, there are a couple of straightforward ways to get the scoop:
Local News: First up, check the local news websites or their broadcasts. If it was a significant event, they're likely to cover it.
Social Media and Apps: You can also peek at neighborhood-specific social media pages or apps like Nextdoor.
Contact the Police: If you're still left wondering, feel free to give your local police department a call. They can usually tell you if it's something that affects the community or if there was just a routine operation.
Community Meetings: Keep an ear out for any community meetings. If the event was big, there might be a meeting where police officials provide updates and reassure the community.

Realistically they aren’t going to tell you. The people who the police were there for aren’t trying to expose their personal tragedies or embarrassing incidents to satisfy the curiosity of neighbors. Most police agencies have some policy regarding disclosure of information they obtain to the public.
As a general rule the police put out a certain amount of their calls for service on public information streams: local papers, social media, agency websites, and so on. Easily 95% of their calls don’t get reported because they are shockingly routine and hardly worth the time or attention of the media. Press releases happen frequently on police websites and usually are generic (for example “Officers responded to the 12000 block of Main Street for a disturbance call” versus “Officers arrested Bob Smith at 12579 E. Main St after his wife smashed a pan on his head over a dispute about him having an affair with her sister.”)
Having said that, most police reports and videos are discoverable under FOIA requests with a few exceptions. In California, for example, any victim of domestic violence, sex crimes, crimes against children, and a few others, are granted specific confidentiality by law and the associated police reports are either sealed or redacted.
In other words, if the police chased a suspect into your neighborhood or responded to something particularly significant such as a homicide or high-profile arrest, they will release the information. If they were there for the private crisis of a family in their home (which makes up the vast bulk of police calls for service) they will not generally disclose this information.
You can either ask the neighbors what happened or call the police department through their non-emergency number and give them the street address and date and ask what was happening in your neighborhood. They will tell you what they can, but obviously they can't give you all the details.
Check their social media platform. Your local news online site. Or get a police scanner. I highly recommend 5-0 Radio app which is free. You can also ask neighbors.. someone was prob nosy and asked at the time.
You prob don't want to know, in the end.
Probably a domestic abuse call, happens often in neighborhoods.
