If a cop searches your vehicle, where are they supposed to put you while they're looking?

Had my car searched once. There was nothing to find. I was in the back seat of the squad while they did it. They managed to pour out the entire contents of a 200+ piece socket and screw bit set in the trunk. Took a good hour to get them all back in the right order. I was pissed.

Here it tends to be in their car or at the side on pavement and in a safe place.

They let me stay in my car since it was winter and I wasn’t wearing pants 🤷‍♀️

Handcuffs only if you are arrested, when detained you sit there without them.

Suspicions are not an arrest. Without PC they can’t search the vehicle and to finally arrest you they need to find something.

I guess with qualified immunity anything is possible, even getting thrown on the ground with a knee in your back. Those cops must have been quite afraid, though. Or do they know you as a troublemaker with a record?

In Germany they often don’t use cuffs even if you are arrested. They just tell you to come with them and cause no trouble.

And then they search the car but luckily never been in that situation as been a good girl and don’t have a car 🤣
