Trending & News Or would you exercise your constitutional amendment?

I've nothing to hide. Often it's just better to go along with it. Treat cops like the enemy and they act like it. Act like you've something to hide and they think you do. Make their job harder and they make your life harder. 9/10 a judge will back the cops even if what they did was ilegal. You might say I'll get a good lawyer but that's going to cost you and if you are up on trumped up charges the prosecutor doesn't care if you are innocent, he just looks at your earnings and personal wealth and if you can't afford a good lawyer and thinks he can win he prosecutes.
Often enough if you are friendly to police they leave you alone. I learned that growing up, we kids were always getting hassled by police and we weren't exactly choir boys either. Learned this from a guy who came from outside town. He had a sizeable bag of weed and he just talked nice to the cops like he was a poindexter coming home from the library and they didn't search him, searched everyone else.

Why are you guys so damn stupid? What does it matter if you have something to hide or not?
Legally they have no right to search your private property yet you guys are willing to bend over and let people do whatever they want to you. 🙄
Unbelievable how damn cucks you guys are. The founding fathers of this nation specifically gave you constitutional rights for your protection and for the citizenry not to be abused by power hunger pricks and you are more than happy to disregard it. Unbelievable.
Well dude when your getting gang raped in prison last thing you going to care about is that the police searched your vehicle legally or illegally.
It's like you have the constitutional right to self defence, protect your property and right to bear arms but using those rights isn't so clear cut when it comes a court of law. A mere legal technicality or a judge's interpretation of the law can see you jailed.
Whatever you do avoid dealing with courts or be on the wrong side of the police.
If you have that mindset among with many others are freedoms are going to be lost in time.
If a mere pickle head cop doesn't respect your civil rights then what makes you think Biden who is the highest official will or whatever next government comes in?
This government will eventually treat you as the Chinese p. o. s. government treats their citizens.
We are playing a dangerous game with freedom, it's super hard to get and super easy to lose.
I follow standard procedures at my job, I don't do whatever I want.
A cop can't police how he feels like it, policing must be done according to the constitutional laws and each individual state laws that's what I'm saying.
And you sound like you don't care about your freedoms and rights being violated or taken away.
I guess you can't appreciate something you never struggled to get.
You are missing the point. Government, cops which are a extention of government have to uphold the constitution and laws that give us rights and protection, you comparing prison rape with prisoners to your individual rights that must be uphold by the government is comparing apples to oranges.
That mindset may work most places, but don't try that in central Florida, Leopard. They'll pull folks over at random. And when they're at a loss for excuse, they'll make up some wild claim that "I think I smell weed."
They'll not get a sample from a gun or anything. The driver may be entirely clean and sober. But it won't matter. It's your word against his. And randomly claiming to have probable cause based on a maybe of a scent, with no PPM reading to back it up, equals them having the "right" to order you out of your car. They slap the cuffs on immediately, get you as far away from your car as possible, then make you wait 20 minutes while the K9 units arrive.
The dogs find nothing. So the officers plant a sample on you, just so the dogs are triggered. You don't get to supervise anything they do, but you can see them pulling the sample to plant from a distance. Your screams and protests are ignored.
Boom. Felony conviction. Judge doesn't give two craps about you witnessing them planting the drugs. Too much money riding on getting you convicted. Your entire life is ruined over a lie. And you have no 1st or 4th amendment protection.
That's why I voted for Hector Roos. So many thought that stunt with Disney guaranteed that DeSantis was some sort of savior, protecting Florida from woke pedophiles. But he was really just allowing his state filled to the brim with them to eliminate pretentious competition from rival pedo organizations.
DeSantis was given Soros'blessing to run for president. That should be a red flag to everyone paying attention. But they don't. Because they're also just thankful he won, and not the guy who committed Hurricane Ian relief fraud (Charlie Crist).
If he becomes president, he won't eliminate all groomers everywhere. He'll simply eliminate the ones controlled by Disney. He'll also eliminate your 1st and 4th amendment rights! As well as all the others! And there are plenty of corrupt states that will happily help.
He'll also turn the US government into the world's most ambitious child trafficking organization ever, as CPS will have total carte blanche to do whatever it wants to any family it pleases, even with zero probable cause!
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy Cops have no respect for civil rights and will beat the crap out of you or kill you, your "rights" notwithstanding. Go complain to the "founding Fathers" if you think it will help you.
@msc545: I know. My point is Americans seem to ignore or just don't care anymore because they were born into lots of freedoms and freedoms to them and is like they think its always going to be afforded to them to be there which they are seriously mistaken.
Cops in this country simply don't give a damn about the constitution nor most politicians and even worse is the most of populace don't care.
You try to explain and reason with them that cops can only police according to the legal laws in place and not as they wish or make up their own rules when interacting with the public but bootlickers still defend them wheather they are in the right or wrong.
Perfect way to start seeing your constitutional rights fade away since they don't care enough to protect it and fight for it.
@msc545: Hold that same thought when Biden or Trump, supreme court judge or any other politician decides to ignore the constitution to what they seem to be personally expedient.
Be consistent in your judgment and don't complain about ish if Trump or any other Republican does whatever they want to do and ignores the constitution and laws of the land.
@leopard23. So you'll pull down your pants and bend over because he a cop and you don't want to make him mad?
I agree that it's best to be polite and friendly. That almost always works. And most cops are decent people. There is no reason to be antagonistic. But respect is a two way street.
Warrants are pretty much never involved regarding a traffic stop, and no cop is going to waste their time with a search if they aren't convinced they'll actually find something. If someone tries to act belligerent though, it's not hard for them to get a warrant, and tends to just be worse for everyone. A lot of the time, the car matches a (vague) description of a vehicle they're looking for, or the driver came across as impaired in some way. Or depending on where you live, it can be a regular thing to set up random checkpoints and search every Xth car. When I lived in El Paso for example, the border patrol and military police on post would check every 2nd, 3rd, or 4th vehicle passing through either a known chokepoint or obscure detour, looking for mostly drug and human traffickers. I actually had to work the overnight shift on a temporary detail with the MPs for a couple months, and it's pretty accurate to say that at least in that specific scenario, it's literally a combination of local circumstances (being a border town with a massive drug problem), algorithmic reasoning, and boredom.
I have denied this in the past, easy enough to deny it again. They have laws/rules they have to follow, they have to be looking for something specific. They can't just stop and then try to find something you are doing illegal.
If they do a search without my consent, I won't fight them, argue or get physical. I'll let them do it and if they happen to find something illegal an attorney will get the charges thrown out because it is inadmissible. Otherwise I will file a complaint and contact an attorney for violation of my rights.
Not that I ever have anything illegal in my car, because I don't.
The catch for some situations though isn't in regards to searches of your car, it is if they suspect your are under the influence, you can refuse to do a Field Sobriety Test but that may result in your license being revoked for failure to comply but no criminal charges.
Thus exercising your rights all the time, may not be the best option. As a drivers license is not a right, it is a privilege that can easily be taken away.
If it keeps the Cartels out of the US I certainly would not have a problem with that. I know I have nothing to hide.
Your ex Mexican boyfriend cheated on you? You seem not to like Mexicans. 😅
oh bite me
Your wish has been granted.
LOL You are funny.

That would depend on some factors. If you have nothing to hide. Then hopefully you will be on your way in a short amount of time. If you say no. Then it could raise suspicions. I guess they could detain you until a warrant arrives. Or they could call in a canine unit to sniff test your car. I have heard that some handlers have a code command that makes the dog do a false hit on your vehicle. Then they have rights to search your car for drugs.
So. Do you take the chance of getting searched by an honest policeman, or do you waste your time waiting for them to release you and get you on your way?
I wouldn't want to, but I know it would be better than possibly escalating the situation. My voice and face often come across as hostile, any interaction with police they have acted like I'm angry at them despite me trying to sound calm and even nice. Simple refusal could be taken as becoming aggressive or threatening, and I don't want to risk that.
Well man you can't do it yourself to fight and protect your legal rights especially for others but the reality is Americans are losing their freedoms fast and seem not to care.
As I told the other person if a cop doesn't care to honor your civil rights than much less higher officials.
They will do whatever the hell they want to the population and just demand for y'all to shut up, if you protest or riots they will just throw your ass in jail.
I know. It's bad. But for me it's already far past the point of return. I'm leaving the country in June along with 2 friends. I plan to help as many people as I can find a safe place to live or get resources they need to keep living in America. I hope changes are made to turn the US into a place people can live safely and freely, but I'm not optimistic. I'm just trying to make it out right now.
I agree with you, because I don't want you to call me stupid. You are right about everything. The cops can't frame you for anything. It would never happen.
If we don't protect our constitutional rights, why have them for then?
You see what they did with Covid-19 lockdowns and are doing to people with free speech and cancel culture where you can't say ish because anything is offensive now and can cause you your job.
Constantly threatening the American public of taking their gun rights everytime a mass shooter goes off.
If a cop doesn't care to respect your constitutional rights much less Biden who is far above a silly cop on the streets.
Biden is a retard that was installed by China. He's a good puppet for Xi Jinping. There's no way he won the election. The cop on the street owns you. He can plant a throw-away gun on the seat of your car, catch it on his body cam, and you're going down. I once attempted to subpoena a sheriff deputy who wrote me a traffic ticket. The court house fought me on it, and the sheriff department fought me on it. It's my legal right to subpoena the cop that pulled me over, but they hold all the cards. They made sure I wasn't able to do it. While I respect your ideology, remember the song: "I fought the law, and the law one?"

I would politely decline the officer's request to search my vehicle.
There’s been cases in the past of cops planting evidence. So I’d refuse
Besides the point they don't have a legal right to search your personal property and belongings without reasonable cause or you are put under legal arrest.
I mean they can legally ask someone permission to search their vehicle. So its not even that
They can ask and if that person chooses to let them then they can.
That's that person choice and problem at that point.
Exactly. So you agree that they do have legal permission to search your vehicle without probable cause if you give them the consent to do so
Nope. And I would tell him to go fuck himself under my breath as I drove off.
At least you care about protecting your constitutional rights. 👌
I'd let them take a look. The minute you start quoting rights you make them suspicious you're up to no good, and 99%/of the time you are.
That's a tough one. I mean I don't want to just say yeah. But that's giving him a reason to assume you have a weapon. I'll just say this, at least I'm white. 😮
Let them assume whatever the hell they want. The 4th amendment of the United States constitution is very clear.
It's your right to deny anyone or government to be searching through your stuff unreasonable.
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
You're right. But in the meantime they can shoot you.
Yes.
I ride Uber... anyway
Yes because I have nothing to hide. And besides they can detain you until you get one or a dog to sniff around the car
So what if you have nothing hide? They have no business looking through your personal stuff.
People like you are amazing, you throw away your rights.
No they won't and if they do without your consent you can get them in trouble for violating your constitutional rights.
Another thing a cop can't detained you illegally because he feels like, he has to have a valid legal reason to detain you and if he doesn't then you can leave.
They got about 15 minutes to get a search dog to get there if they don't you can leave.
A cop just can't hold a citizen against their will if nothing illegal hasn't been done.
You obviously don't know ish nor your rights.
It's not about me being wrong, it's about you don't know what the hell you are talking about and acting as if you do.
Cops can't make up their own rules or police as they wish you dummy, they have to follow the constitution and each state laws wheather they like it or not.
I'm not going to changed your nor care too. People like you it's what causing this country's government and police to act overbearing and infringing on people's rights left and right while they tell you to shut up and obey.
Damn bootlickers like you if the government gives orders these same damn cops will drag your silly ass out your house without respecting you nor nothing that belongs or confine to stay in your house as they did during the Covid-19 pandemic.
People like deserve no damn freedom. You too damn scared to defend it.
@hispanic-cool-guyAre you sure you are a Christian or actually cool? Jesus tells us to bow to those in authority. That doesn't mean let them walk over you when you are in the right in today's world. Just remember, you can be right and also dead right. Usually when you read about a police shooting it is because the people were no obeying commands, acting belligerent, and fighting with them. The police have just as much rights not to be shot as you do. But many are killed at traffic stops and domestic abuse calls. I would suggest if you ever need a cop to just handle it yourself. You don't need to be calling on help from those that you obviously hate. I myself know some cops where I live in Orange County, Calif. I have dated a few. All have been really nice and thoughtful. Maybe it just depends where you live. The bigger the city the more of a chance on having bad cops. New York City cops have had the distinction of being on the take so we know they ALL aren't good. But if you treat them with respect they will do the same.
Yes. I don't want to get beaten or killed and I am not going to argue the law with a cop.
If I had time I would say no, just because.
I would decline (in a nice and polite way).
I would refuse permission.
