I had a person's dog rip a very expensive jumper if mine. They refuse to buy me a new one. Should I get police involved?
5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Compile as much evidence and documentation as possible - date, time, location, witnesses, photos, the damaged jumper and receipt for the jumper. File a police report. Then sue them for damages in civil court.

+1 ySmall claims court is best bet. Now if dog ripped your arm off (example) then you'd call the police. Physical harm not clothing harm there's a difference.
Am I defending owner's or dog's actions, NO I am not. Yes owner's responsibility to pay for the clothing.

Asker+1 yExactly

But shouldn't call the police in your case. Unless dog caused physical harm. Like in that example or puncture wounds from teeth.
Asker+1 yI did call and they helped me

To each there own way.
18.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yeah you can call and make a police report about anything. And if that dog is a menace, it’s good to have a history logged in the local PD.
Now whether you’d get anyone to pay you for that jumper (sweater as we call it), I wouldn’t hold my breath. there's small claims court but you’re likely to spend more there than the jumper.00 Reply- 437 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

Wtf did you do to that poor dog to get it so riled?07 Reply

@provokeesmokee Just how low did you stoop down to make this kind of comment? Really uncalled for , and you aught to be ashamed of yourself for that kind of insulting rhetoric

Lmao, I don't even have a dog.
But I love how triggered Karen is. I can't believe she thinks she ought to be compensated for her own idiocy.
Asker+1 yMore like the owners and dogs idiocy
Asker+1 yJust so you know, there will be a court to get some of the money back and hopefully I'll get them back. I have a top lawyer.
Go cry doggy
Seriously, learn dog body language.
If you're using a agressive body language then the dog *will* pick that up and act hostile towards you.017 Reply
Asker+1 yI haven't done anything and it's not my responsibility
Asker+1 yNo he just jumped on me and kept scratching me
Asker+1 yAnd you haven't even answered my question.
Useless answer- +1 y
You *can* call whoever you like.
Legally you'd probably get nowhere, but who knows.
Ethnically you're essentially putting the dog on a trial where it might face the death penalty because of your selfishness.
I don't expect you to ever be comfortable with dogs.
Phobias are a real thing.
But you can learn the *basics* and it'll help both you and the dogs you face.
It won't jump on you if you tell it in dog body language that you don't want him to.
Head turning (just one way not back and forwards) is a sign that you don't like something.
Yawning is a sign to calm down.
Sitting down sideways is a sign that you are friendly.
Turning your back against a dog while sitting down is both being friendly and signalling that you'd like some peace and quiet.
Licking your mouth means you're being a good boy/girl/kind.
Staring is rude among dogs and may indicate that you don't trust them.
Walking in a straight line against a dog is both rude and threatening and indicates that you intend to attack them unless you add tail movements that we just don't have as humans.
Dogs tend to walk around in a spiral towards each other or circling each other unless they're close (as in friends already)
Sniffing is like a handshake for us...
There's probably more that I don't remember right now, but that's the basics...
Asker+1 yI want my money back...
and the owner deserves a good slap- +1 y
Ok, granted, you have a right to be annoyed.
But you, the dogs owner and the dog all played a part and could have acted differently.
It's not easy for dogs to understand us humans with our weird behaviour.
Like showing our teeth when we're happy for instance, or insisting on walking in a straight line everywhere etc...
Asker+1 yAgain it has nothing to do with me. They are responsible
Asker+1 yAnd they behave like cunts so
Asker+1 yCunts mean absolute dickheads
Asker+1 yI hate dogs
Asker+1 yI will get them out down
Asker+1 yAnd sue the owner

+1 yIf you were wearing it and the dog attacked you, yes you should call the police
20 Reply 12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. If you were wearing it at the time, then yes, as it classes as "assault with an animal".
But otherwise it's a civil matter and small claims will be better.
00 ReplyWe're not getting the full picture here. How did it all happen. Dogs never attack out of nowhere.

+1 yI not sure that the police would come or consider it as a emergency but if it’s quite expensive you can sue them for the cost of the jumper. Maybe if it gets pretty heated then maybe the police would come.
00 Reply1.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Did the dog bite break your skin? If not small claims court is probably more appropriate
