Will police do anything, what should I tell friend to do?

One of my friends believes their ex is making fake accounts to harass/annoy them (they're blocked on every thing), there's nothing threatening in them, no threats at all, I've seen screenshots. Basically just telling them they're a loser and at one point messaging one of their friends saying they were having an affair with the wife (the ex not my friend) and my friend knew all about it. And to tell my friend to stop telling people that she's not a good person. She is a bad person however. That's a different story.

Is there any they can do legally or is it just one of those you have to ignore and hope eventually the ex gets bored and stops?

I told them since there's nothing threatening, that most likely cops won't do anything to investigate. Am I wrong? Or is there more that can be done besides reporting it to IG or whatever social account they're using?

I think that this would qualify as harassment, since she is constantly being contacted by the same person. I would let police know, as you lose nothing by doing that.

Since they are blocked on everything it is clear she does not want them to contact her, but by constantly doing so this seems like harassment

It's a guy friend and it's his ex girlfriend. But he doesn't know for a fact it's her, he just thinks it's her. Because it's more than one fake account. Which are easy to make. Most likely it's her. The breakup was bad.

Well the police would likely be able to investigate the accounts and track whether it is her. Sorry I got the gender wrong. However, they may not be helpful, but it is worth a shot if he is uncomfortable.

Oh no, you're good. He doesn't seem uncomfortable, just annoyed since there's no threats. I will pass him the info. Most likely he won't report and ignore it. He hates conflict.

I do too, so I understand. It seems like a very unhealthy situation though and she might escalate things is she is so unstable. I'd recommend he should report it for his safety.

Tell your friend to look at stalking laws in your country/state and report to the police
