Do empire account for their defeats. The Battle of Thermopylae was a holding action to slow the Persians down. Its recounted by Herotatus who lived in Halicarnassus which was in the Persian empire. Does Persian history recount any of the battles in their invasion of Greece, or does it only recount the victories. Also what is Persian history recorded on?

Maybe they did but the records were lost. I find it amazing that we have writings from classic Greece and Rome.

Writting history goes back to 4th Millennium BC.

I understand that writing is quite old. There may have been Persian records, but it seems none of them survived.
