What would be the next dominant species on Earth if humans were to disappear, would this next animal adapt to use our technology or create its own?

This is a really good question our 29,000 year cycle is coming up it's time for another meteor to hit the Earth but I think there will be some humans left like all the government officials heading to their underground bunker that they just built 75 miles long they've been loading it with food and supplies for the last past 2 years so there is something that that's the reason why I like this question just think this is how smart we are let's say a meteor does hit the Earth it would kill 3/4 of us probably and now you have A1 robots it would rebuild themselves and hunt down all the humans so the next species would have to be something that lives underground

There's been evidence to suggest that chimpanzees have entered their own version of the stone age, and orangutans have been observed using simple tools.

It's likely that one, or both, of those species could eventually take over the top spot, assuming that whatever kills us doesn't also wipe them out.

They would likely develop their own technology. Given the point where they are now, by the time they were capable of of using & understanding the majority of our technology, it would long since have been rendered inoperable by time, and the elements.

Most species don't survive more then several million years. Most likely the next dominant species will be the intelligent species (know a robots) that we create and in turn create more intelligent and capable robots. Since computers and therefore, robotics is doubling every two years, in forty years the will be 1 million times as intelligent and capable. At that stage they will exceed human intelligence and will design their own replacements. Their replacement will colonize our galaxy.

Slugs, dolphins, or jellyfish. Slugs would have to develop our technology. It'll take them a year to go a mile. With self driving cars, they'll be so happy. Then robot prosthetics.
