I asked because it was supposed to be the longest sunset of the year or something like that

This was posted on the summer solstice. so I am a little late. However, unlike this posting, I did indeed watch the sunset - and the sunrise too!
First, I am Spring/Summer guy. As far as I am concerned, the year should begin on April 1 and end on August 31 and the revert back to April 1. Rinse, repeat. I like the long days, the starlit cricket chirp and firefly filled evenings. I like the spring blossoms and flowers and the little baby animals.
For my part, I have no use for Winter and even Fall. People always say, "Oh, but those fall colors are so beautiful!!" They only look that way because they are dead.
So I like to see the sunrise and the sunset both on the first day of Summer - weather permitting. Ditto the first day of Spring, too.
Partly it is just the beauty and the symbolism. Partly it is a sort of, for lack of a better term, scientific interest. Although it does not change year to year on those dates, it is not just a matter of when the sun rises and sets, but when twilight begins and ends and where along the horizon the sun rises and sets.
So put me down as an emphatic "Yes," every year. Again, weather permitting - and this year, the weather permitted. Suffice to add, it was gorgeous, too!
I like this time of year too and I think the first day of summer was this week too so that's a good feeling
I only noticed it slightly because my pet cats have a tendency to move to our big window as the sun comes out. So I saw it through my window as the cats rolled upside down and started purring as I touched their chests and then angry and started swatting and biting me when I did it too much.
Omgg how many cats do you have and what kinds? I really want a British shorthair so badlyyy
Mine are both from the streets: two of them. I don't even know what breed they are but I think they're mixed. My wife and I started feeding them since they were hanging around our house a lot and then we became so attached, and both got hurt in a way where we rushed them to the vet in a panic and then ended up keeping them.
I'm more of a dog person and mostly never wanted pets but got two cats now as a result! Have you seen Exotic Shorthairs? At first I thought no creature like that could possibly exist; this must be Photoshopped, until I saw video:
You and your wife are soo nice for doing that I'm going to cry!
I love dogs too!! I want a samoyed (I don't know if that's spelt right) it's the big white fluffy dog! Omg so cuteee but I want a grey British shorthair still 🤣
Yes totally 🤣 or like a cloud 9 commerical where all the clouds are made up of samoyed dogs🤣 do you have a favourite dog breed?

I did, I actually drove to the ocean for a great sunset. West Coast USA? Where was that photo taken? it looks too calm to be the Pacific, so I am guessing a lake.
Yes it was a lake lol
I my case it is the winter solstice instead of summer solstice. In your case it is the longest day and in my case the shortest day.
Oddly it isn't the latest/earliest sunset nor dawn. They happen around solstice but not on the solstice but by definition the solstice is the longest or shortest.
Congrats on sun worshiping with me!
Busy at work. Nice picture. Colors are really clear.
That sucks! But thank you! Aw next time!
No. And I have a great view of the sunset from my house, too, but I didn't think of checking it out yesterday. I don't think there were any clouds that would have made it spectacular.
You missed it? You better have been doing something important 🤣
How could you! 🤣
I was pretty much sleeping all day yesterday. I usually watch the sunset and take pictures sometimes but yesterday I didn't.
That's okay I guess you go see them all the time!
I always watch the sunsets. It's nice looking at the sky & clouds change different colors.
It's very beautiful. I can't see it where I live.
You can't? Oh no!
Nooe, but during a recent vacation, there were some beautiful sunsets.
miami got beautiful sunsets and sunrises everyday, i can not watch it and watch it tomorrow lol
I would’ve, but there’s a part of my complex blocking the way. Without it, I could stare at the Sun setting anytime!
I do enjoy the weather and Nice sunsets I enjoyed looking at the clouds and the sky
Niceee
Without you sun set background is nothing valuable.
I didn’t even notice the sunset in those pics….. you however are absolutely gorgeous
Thanks!
Longest day of the year. I see the sunset subconsciously everyday. Its not something i plan as an activity.
