Just go to a charity and pick out some presentable clothes for free that fit you. Go to a food pantry and get some free food to fill your belly an give you some energy. Try to find some soap, deodorant, shaving cream, and a razor to clean up and smell good either through charity, scavenging, begging for money, or shoplifting. Then go apply for low level jobs after you've clean up. If you land one, you can live in your car or whatever, and then shower at the beach or public pool before the park opens or at some cheap gym like planet fitness to get clean before work everyday and put on your clean uniform. After a month or so you should have enough for first, last, and security deposit for a cheap apartment. Just spend money on laundry and hygiene during that period and get your food for free during that time. If you work in food service it makes it even easier to eat good being that they typically allow you to eat a certain amount of free food and drink as much soda as you want.

Hair cuts are important as well for looking presentable. If you're a guy, you can get an electric hair clipper for like $20. Just shave your head so you're clean cut. That's easier than paying for hair cuts.

Well, that wouldn't happen here. But if we assume it does? Laundry and a temp. adress, deoderant.

Food, a roof and even clothes could be managable. But smelling good and looking presentable is not normally covered. However without it no one will hire you. No one will let you rent and so on. I very much imagine that ability to present yourself is one of the vital parts we overlook when helping people in a tough situation.

If your clothes are tattered and you smell like a sewer, hair is a mess and so on? People won't give you a chance.

The pope had a very interesting lunch with homeless project you can look into where showering and fresh clothes proved to be forgotten essentials.

I am rather confused about what in my reply made you think I was? I was highlighting some of the major issues people outside the system often face that people forget about. If anything I was *strongly* speaking in homeless people's favour by increasing understanding of a difficult situation.

Depends on the country, but whatever I need to get a job. In my case it would likely be access to the internet, so I would check things like the library or aim for a cheap phone. Then clothes and a temporary address. I would try to have enough for a public bath/shower (mostly found at ports).
Then fake it till you make it and get a job. If you can get hired for a trial month, you'll get ~2000 which would make life much easier even if you get fired because now you can do it all again, but with more money.

I would be homeless. I'd buy a PO box so that I have a legal address. Without an address, I can't get a job or government assistance.
