Half-white Irish (and not very distant Irish, that side of the family emigrated to the US in the 19th century) on the mother's side and half-Asian Japanese on father's.
My father survived very harsh bombings and famine during WW2. Even one of his siblings died of starvation during that period and it's a type of trauma my spoiled self can't even imagine as he eats the eyeballs out of a roasted pig while recalling the stories (although I think he's kind of showing off when he eats the eyeballs).
But at the end of WW2, he found the greatest compassion in an American soldier who gave him cans of food which was like paradise to a boy used to rummaging out of trash cans and eating nothing but fish bones and insects for food.
So he became very inspired to learn English and move to the US and did with nothing more than a suitcase. From there he gradually worked his way up from a chef to manager and met my mother there who worked for him as a waitress. Apparently she caught him the first time in his office practicing Judo and singing the Sound of Music and fell in love instantly.
Then they had me in Japan. I had some difficulty in the beginning since my initial friends in Japan all called me "Amerikajin" (the American) being half-white even though I never set foot in the US. Later I did and it's like all the Americans called me Japanese even though I'm half-American and a dual-citizen to the US. I've gotten used to it though being all mixed.
that's some wild mix right there bro
Besides being a mutt by blood I'm also quite the cultural one. In total I've lived around 10 years of my life in the US and around 20 in Japan, but I've also spent the additional 12 years living in other countries growing up. My parents moved around a lot while I was growing up but also I took on a job after uni that required me to move to new places all the time. So I have a bit of a difficulty nowadays identifying my culture. I just say "Japanese" to most people to keep it simple and avoid explaining a long-winded backstory.
japan seems so fire to have in your genes tho, many cool things originate from there
interesting, but everything got their pros and cons tho
For sure. One of the things I like about Japanese is that they put great emphasis on the body language of other people and there's also a strong Buddhist influence not to complain too much about our problems. But there is a sense to me sometimes with Japan at the extremes like we are all just part of a collective hive, all eager to conform to proper etiquette. What I dislike about Japanese culture is often what I love most about American and vice versa.
well i learned something new about them, learn something new everyday lol
My DNA is apparently 45% Irish, 31% English and northwestern Europe, 13% Welsh, 7% French, and 4% Scottish.
I always considered myself Irish because my maternal side is pure Irish, as far as I know, and my paternal ancestors immigrated from Ireland in 1850. But my paternal grandmother wasn't pure Irish and my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Proux and she apparently spoke French and English. Other DNA may have gotten there through early colonization of Ireland.
At least I am 69% Gallic and only 31% English. LOL
damn you must have done the test, thats some crazy root tracking lol
Aside from Ancestry. com DNA, I have some good genealogy info. In fact I have a complete genealogy on my paternal side going back to 1795. I also have copies of photos of all my paternal ancestors going back to the ones who immigrated to the U. S. in 1850.
There is a book called A Farewell to Famine that tells the story of how my great, great, grandparents immigrated here. It's not about them, per se, but it lists them in the passenger manifest of the ship that was chartered. They entered through New Orleans and took a river boat up the Mississippi.
I’m half Japanese, a quarter German, and some part Swedish/Scottish (we’re not really sure on that last one)
that is a unexpected mix tho, nice, i think i can see more german than the japanese tho 🤣
That’s what a lot of people I know say except for my best friend and my moms Japanese friends. The ones who grew up with her in Japan say that I look a lot like her when she was younger.
then maybe you have a good balance of both or is your mother mixed as well? cause if so then maybe your roots go deeper
No she’s full Japanese
then no lie, im talking out my ass
Pure breed. 💯 Chinese American. My kids are mixed.
i see, nice, what are the mixes? 🤔
My daughter…. when much younger…said…1/2 Chinese, 1/2 Jewish, 1/2 American.
I am glad she has gotten better with her “blond moments”
ha well congrats to both of y'all with your family and happy relationship 🤣
You get it? I’m Chinese and can’t cook, can’t do math and can’t bike. That’s why my first husband divorced me ahhaaaa….. jk.
well good thing it happened or you never wouldve met this guy right here lol
Yes…life work in a strange way.
You never know.
indeed ha

not positive, part italian... part Czech... no idea what that is, that side was killed off in WWII.
my cats tried to convince me I'm part cat...
Be fun to see a DNA test as I wonder how much Mongolian...
i see
Half white (slavic)
Half brown (mid eastern)
I look italian i suppose. Im darker than my pale asf mom, lighter than my brown dad. I have a slight sun kissed skin and nut brown hair.
so you are in between them in color, thats a cool mix tho 💯🙂
Not sure. I know I have ancestral roots mostly in Britain, but I know of at least one great-great-great who was Sicilian. I guess I could get one of those kits, but I just never cared much.
interesting 🤔
Ok...
German, Danish, English, Scottish, Irish, Native American. There are more but cannot prove. Father died before he could go further back than 1400s.
No dna test to get percentages. Just recorded paperwork.
damn bro thats a crazy mix foreal
Both sides of family. Not just one.
i figured
Not mixed but I will make sure my kids will be 😂
im sure god already got everything ready for you, all thats missing now is your patience 🤣
Haha I mean I like the idea of having mixed children
can't argue with that, i want to make the rarest human breed in existance 😂
i think the mixes of cultures is beautiful
Haha love that 😂
And I agree!! It really is! I wish I was mixed
i think you should do a DNA test, you might be and just dont know it, im sure you'll find something that will surprise you 🤣
On my father’s side I’m definitely ethnically ambiguous haha. But probably nothing crazy random…. I’m going to do a DNA test it will be exciting!
you should, it would show you all your roots foreal, i feel like there's something that will surprise you tho cause even being 1% of something like Australian or Philippine 😂
Haha who knows! There might be some white in me cause of colonialism 🤷🏻♀️
yep, even if its just one percent 😂
Yeah 😂
Most of us are mixed. My maternal grandmother is Asian Russian and part Mongolian. My maternal grandfather is part Belarusian, born and died in Soviet Russia. My paternal grandmother is Russian (don’t know which backgrounds). My paternal grandfather is Russian Ashkenazi.
German, Austrian, France and a little bit of black Dutch. that I'm a wear of
thats quite a mix indeed
😂😂
not mixed race so sorry to crash this, but god i love that cat picture. reminds me of a silly picture i took of one of my cats a while back from a similar angle
i love when any animal does this, it makes em look nosey 😂
On my mom's side Kenyan and on my dad's side Japanese/Taiwanese.
nice, you know any of the languages? is your household also a bunch of languages back and forth? 😆
so this makes me wonder, whats your angrily curse langauge when you get mad? is it a specific one or they all come out randomlyvat some point 😂
you got a whole pattern going, thats pretty cool tho 😂👌
so they are koreans that went to japan, learned the language so instead of speaking korean (which is the origin they were from) they speak japanese? imagine putting that on a t shirt 😆
so you have no japanese in your bloodline? you are partially korean or you got japanese too cause damn your gene pool is wild 😂
Yes, they weren't brought willingly to Japan. They were forced to speak Japanese, change their names, learn how to write the language and pretty much assimilate to the Japanese culture. So my great-parents families did just that, unlike a lot of others they lived a pretty good life and didn't go back to Korea. They were able to hide their identity pretty well and my Grandpa was born and raised there without feeling like a Korean, because to him he wasn't (he didn't even want to learn or step foot into Korea because it's so foreign to him). It's a bit complicated haha.
Yeah, so technically there's no Japanese (It's 25% ethnically Korean, 25% Taiwanese and 50% Luo (Kenyan)). Which is funny because my family identifies the most with our Japanese side.
a bit complicated? you can write a whole book, its fascinating tho, id read that book and im not much of a reader, but if your grandfather was born in japan then wouldn't that make him japanese? and then because your grandfather gave birth to a parent of yours then your parents gave birth to you then wouldn't that make you part japanese? this is confusing but your family tree must be very fascinating as well, i thought i was living on the edge cause i had some Ukrainian meanwhile you are at the top of a very complicated tree 🤣
well it doesn't change that you are a fascinating mix and i appreciate you taking the time and sharing it 🙂😁👌
West indian/Japanese/german/Irish
People mistake me for being hispanic, latina, mexican
i can kinda see that happening, indian side gives the tan skin, and german can give you the full lips and cheekbones and japanese somewhat puts it all together
Yeah i look like an alien sometimes
thats not what i meant 😂
Ik but it is true 😌
well i can't really deny it cause I don't know but ill take your word for it i guess as long as you spare me from the probing 👾😆
I'm black. Did a DNA test once. I got some white too, probably from my ancestors being on the plantations.
I'm 3/4 English and 1/4 Irish.
Simples...

Yep it's their genetic makeup. Italian, Spanish and native American. That's why a lot of Argentinians have Italian surnames 😉
And I'm mixed hispanic.
blowing my mind with this new knowledge Sarah ha

you are light skin, i knew it 😆
How did you know?
i took a wild guess when you said African with Spain and Portugal, i know it might sound dumb or but i thought of adding milk to coffee and it makes it light brown so i thought of you like a coffee basically lol
@MementoMori777 excellent analogy 😂
lol i couldve lied and came up with some smart shit to say like i actually study genetics and based from her family tree that i build her DNA from scratch but the truth is i just compared her to coffee ha
