Because it was a 9 years war fought in America not india between the French in America along with their native American allies (Indian) against the British in America along with their native American allies. It later became part of the overall global conflict the seven years war.

When the seven years wars there were other wars taking place that the Seven years war ended such as the the French and Indian War (1754–1763), the Carnatic Wars (1744–1763) and the Anglo-Spanish War (1762–1763).

Some refer to period as the Sixty Years war.
