I have never heard the expression "shower lily." I do have a loofah but never considered washing it with my other laundry.
A loofah is technically a plant which looks very different. Shower lily or shower puff are alternative more accurate names
Actually, the interior of the loofah plant is used as a bath scrub and that is the only thing which should be called a loofah. The thing that you call a shower lily is the scrubber made from nylon netting. The terms aren't interchangeable though some people may use them that way.
That's what I just said
Okay, I misunderstood what you wrote.
I've got a green loofah. I rinse it a little bit just before I soap it up in the shower and again just before I get out of the shower so it doesn't grow mushrooms. I've never put it in the washing machine though.
This question reminded me of this scene from New Girl:
"Who washes a towel?" 😂
Thanks for Most Helpful. š
I just throw them away and buy new ones.

Well they're all of full of soap when I get through with them so I think just sort of scrunching them around a bit under a hot shower with a little bit more soap is about all I need to do.
Damn English and your weird words! Wait, I must catch the lolly before tea time! :P
