Well you have understand what makes getting over someone hard. The subconscious is what makes it hard. From my own experience you have to find something that completely draws your attention off of the breakup. I know this works. I've done it. I went from being in the worse pain in my life to being distracted and having the best time of my life. Find something bigger than the breakup. Find something to get lost into. You cannot also try to psycho analyze it all but I found the first one to be more powerful. It's all what you focus on. When you are sleep the conscious mind is turned off and that's why it's peaceful until you wake up and remember the bad news again.

As the saying goes, 'the fastest way to get over someone is to get under someone.' And it's absolutely true.
And the more pc answer is, simply, distraction. Keep busy with whatever, and it has to be things that occupy your mind, not just your body.

Imagine them doing dumb things and write a list of all their bad qualities and think of the reasons they would’ve been bad for you. Also you can start to believe it wasn’t meant to be because there is someone better for you in life you’ll find one day, and everything happens for a reason and all that crap lol

By finding someone else. Always when someone leaves they leave a clean bigger space for someone better, nicer, endless possibilities... I see it as a chance rather than a loss. I never went wrong with moving on
