Liston looks like he'd tell a better joke. Lets be real, if a serious enough altercation happens that the bar can't solve it a single person will not safely beat everyone either. At best you're looking for a really big guy to push people away as you dart for the door together. You are not looking to fight.
So their fighting skills are not super relevant. Ability to preemptively stop violence is. And for that, a keen eye and ability to be genuinely funny solves most conflicts.
Even though Liston was the most intimidating man alive
