How often do you change you cat litter if you have only one cat?

I have 14 non-resident cats in three generations. I go through a 14 pound bag of Meow Mix every week. I leave access to the garage open all day and keep a favorite in the garage at night. A Calico. I harvest the litter box in the garage every two weeks. It's the scented kind and it's not enclosed. Unless it gets gamey, I just keep on harvesting it. I may change it out in a month or so.

One very small kitten wandered into my yard two weeks ago. I think it was somehow mentally disabled. I think its mother (not one of my cats) abandoned it. I took extra special care of it because of that but it still lived outside like 13 others. But one night last week, the local Owl got it. I mourned over losing one tiny kitty.

I used to do it every week. I miss my cats but don't miss the litter box.

Depends on how much she uses it. My cat is outside during the day and inside every morning and night. She uses the litter box maybe a few times a week. I clean her mess, which still leaves plenty of clean litter behind. I don’t change the litter until the tray needs topping up after it’s gotten low from me cleaning up after her. So I’d say I change the litter maybe once a month, since I get rid of the dirty litter.

i have 3 and do it every other day, one cat depends on the size of the box
