When did something start out badly for you but in the end, it was great?

When I was 26, a friend's mom got me a sure fire interview for a job with an auto insurance company.
Up to then, I was a surfer, rock musician, partier, and very physically active.

For the job, I had to cut my long hair and wear a suit. I had no idea what the work would entail, but the salary and benefits were fantastic.

After training me, they put me to work as a motor vehicle damage field appraiser/adjuster, although I worked in an office a lot, especially at first.

The work was grueling. Plus, I didn't recognize myself. I no longer fit in with the kind of people I used to associate with and I felt like an imposter at work.

It took me several years to get the job wired, get used to my new persona, and learn how to be a grown up.

The job turned out to be fantastic. I retired after 30 years with a pension and a lot of money in my 401(k).

Everytime I give a presentation. I like giving presentations, but I get very nervous the week before the presentation. Until I start and all that stress leaves me.
