I have been speaking English natively for more than 40 years, I will let you know if i ever get a handle on it.

That was supposed to just be a joke but actually I wouldn't expect you to understand what i just said because it is an idiom.

English and presumably all languages are absolutely loaded with idioms, surely understanding the raw language is only half of it? You also have to understand the culture and all the the little rules and I doubt you can do that without living in the place that you want to understand.

You meant 'I've been' or 'I have been' by the way (by the way, another idiom). So ok, you made a mistake, so what? I understood you perfectly and I didn't even notice the mistake at first.

At least when it comes to reading it, trying to write that was a nightmare.

The long and the short of it is if you want to be better at something then you need to invest more time or somehow benefit more from the time you invest.

It's not a race you know and I very much doubt you have spent every waking moment of you life for the last 4 years exclusively trying to learn English, so although that is certainly something that people say, it doesn't really mean very much. Perhaps in your native language and or culture you deal with this sort of question in a more helpful and informative way?

Considering you are Turkish, it's OK. I studied French for 4 years, but I am not truly fluent in French either. To become truly fluent, like you are in Turkish, you have to use the language frequently.

I believe that if you continue to speak your language with everyone you are close to, like family and friends, you may never learn it fluently. You must start speaking more English to people. And learn how to make your tongue and lips need to be at when you say the word.

It's alright. You're used to speaking Chinese. It will take a while before you are fluent.

And you speak it good. Better than the people from the west.

In the USA, many people have spoken it their whole lives and are not fluent.
