My mom is suffering sooo much. My father left her. Their break up was bitter. She is over 60 and is left with not much money. She supported my father and expected he will take care of her in old age. But he refuses. She became grumpy and bitter about him cheating on her and going for a younger woman. She cannot live without him and she always expect that he will come back to her. Which i am sure he won't. He always says mean stuff about her behind her back and my dumb sister tells her. I want to cheer my mom up and it exhausted me how much i try to get her out of this dark pit. Any advice is apperciated

If she won’t get herself into therapy, you need to do therapy. Yes, you’re an adult. But you’re also her child. There are boundaries that need to exist for healthy parent-child relationships. It seems your dad did the wrong thing here, but you don’t want to get in the middle. My parents are happily married, but they have little arguments. If they loop me in, I say this is a marital problem and leave. It’s mostly a joke, but I’m also being serious. Love your mom. Buy her flowers. Give her a hug. But don’t become her only person to vent to. Let her know you’ll always love her, and be the best son you can right now.
