Do you prefer cats or dogs?

I enjoy both dogs and cats, but I don't want to own a dog. For my lifestyle, walking a dog several times per day would be inconvenient. Boarding a dog every time I leave for the weekend would be inconvenient. Cats instinctively use a litter box and don't overeat, so I can leave big bowls of food and water and leave the cat for the weekend and he will be fine.

Dog owners think cats are aloof and not expressive but that is just motivated by their bias. A feral cat is not a good pet but a cat that has been handled as a kitten will be very tame, affectionate, and loyal. I have a cat who spends his days outside but he comes in to eat, if it is raining or cold, and he comes in at night to sleep. Whenever my fiancée goes outside to tend her plants, Uncle Thunder follows her around the yard without fail, and he "talks" to her. He is always waiting for us at out parking spot when we return after an absence of several hours.

And he is an excellent mouser. I live on an old farm with adjoining woods, so there are some rodents nearby. The only two I have seen in five years were both dead and being carted away by Uncle Thunder.

Cats. I used to be more of a dog person as a kid but I have seen the light. You can leave a cat home alone and it's not going to shit on your carpet, tear up your house, and chew up your shoes. It's also not going to get out of the yard and then bite somebody or kill your neighbor's dog. Dogs are a big pain in the ass. A dog will warn you of danger, though. Like if somebody is trying to break into your house or you're out in the woods at night and a mountain lion is trying to sneak up behind you. You'll never hear him until it's too late but the dog will.

I prefer dogs, but I used to have a few cats here and there in my lifetime. Cats are more alien. They don’t need much attention for the most part, but it depends on the cat dogs on the other hand or more like family more like children companions they like to be played with talked to said, scratched, rubbed padded, etc. but I do prefer dogs over cats. My dog will bring the ball back. Let me know when people are around that are strangers, or even when people come into the yard or at my door. My cat won’t when I had one

Love cats. Owned 4 over my lifetime. Only live one type of dog - Dachshunds. Owned 2 over my lifetime. Got married - wife hates cats and we live in a two story house so can’t own a dachshund 😞💔

I like any social animal and there are not that many. Horses are social but zebras aren't. Currently I am blessed with a tabby friend.
