For me, it's Waterloo in 1815.

My rescue kitten pounced on my toes and ferociously wrestled them, going above and beyond the call of duty with conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of, well, losing to a bunch of toes, I guess. The battle involved at least three rounds of zoomies as she performed a hasty retreat in order regain the initiative, maneuvered to a secure location under the table and maintained an audacious tempo of violence in strike after strike against a force of toes which outnumbered her 10:1. Showing complete disregard for being told no, she maneuvered repeatedly across open terrain and engaged the enemy in combat with only her teeth and recently clipped nails. When asked if she "was quite done yet", she remained undeterred and resolute, providing skibbitybaps with toe bean after toe bean to an enemy who maintained numeric superiority until they withdrew into a slipper. Her extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the finest traditions of rescue kittens and reflect great credit upon herself, the Rescue Kitten Regiment, and the United States of Kittens.

I am guessing it was breakfast time. My tabby would run up the wall to sit on the dormer window sill. If he assessed I was partially awake he would jump down and hit me with an almost near miss. If I was dead asleep it would be a full on hit. 6Kg of cat from 1 m worked. I was 'who hit me' awake.

Most important, best tactics, most people involved, most tactic changing and revolutionary, most deaths? Lots of ways to look at it.

Off the top of my head Stalingrad would jump out. It changed the course of WWII in the east and lasted for months and had the most casualties.

Are we talking military? You are a girl. Did you mean battling cravings, battling insecurities, battling to overcome weaknesses or set backs.

I'm thinking war. A military battle.

I would agree Waterloo 1815 was the greatest battle - in part because I think a forebear of mine was involved as an aide de camp of Bullow.

I seen you are in the Netherlands, so possibly you should consider the Dutch side of the Spanish Armada or the other battles from 1568 to 1648 with Spain? There is quite a bit to be proud of.

Verdun was a poor concept to bleed the French.

On the other hand Bulow's 4th Corps smashing into the French right flank won the day and saved Wellington's bacon at Waterloo. Also Blucher , after being unhorsed and trampled by French cavalry on 16 June, was good to go wenching that night after an alcohol rub down. The troops had to have been inspired enormously by that selfless act.

Blucher getting it on with the barmaids was probably the pivotal moment of the campaign.
