When you were growing up, were you told about the Boogeyman and what he can do to you?

I think there was something going around bout him living under the bed. I remember us going to bed at night and leaping across the room into bed so he couldn't get us if we walked over. Although, with me, it was Paul McCartney. There were rumours going around that he was dead and, for some reason, I got it in my head, when I was about 12, that, if I didn't run up the stairs to my room on the 3rd floor as fast as I could, he was gonna come out of my parents' room,. across the hall from my stairs, and try to kill me with a huge butcher knife, ala Norman Bates. I think that lasted about a year and a half, maybe 2 years.
Going up to the 2nd floor, I was perfectly fine but, going up to my room, as soon as I made that right-hand hairpin and started up my stairs, I'd run up on all fours as fast as they could carry me! At least as far as the landing near the top. Once I got there, I was safe.

You poor little guy. Man, the stuff we were taught to believe when we were little kids is too much. Do you suppose the tiny kids of today are being taught the same crap?

Well, nobody taught me that, as far as I know. Somehow, I just got it in my head. I think it had something to do with hearing, "Revolution 9".
Yeah, it's possible but, maybe they don't, anymore. If they do, they might use more frightening characters like, Mike Meyers, Freddy Kruger, Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi. OOOOOOO!! Gives me chills just THINKING about those last two!! I wonder if anybody dressed up like them or Mad Maxine Watters,. tonight. How would you like to answer the door and se THAT? I'd have to start wearing Depends!!

It was just told that the bogeyman would get you in order to scare us, but we really didn’t believe in it but I did see something in the movies when I was very young, called the bogeyman, and it was quite scary at the time

Mom used to say some monster… she meant bear. We lived out in the country. I was only scared to walk around in the dark and run into a snake other than that nothing scared me.
