Why hasn't Jodeci been honored? ?

I like these guys, I feel that they paved the way for many r&b male groups, and they have inspired them as well, I've never seen an award show do a small tribute or anything remotely close to honoring them:at-wits-end: Do they not deserve it? I think they do

i feel it has do with the drama with them along with personal demons and issues like alcoholism and drugs

Their music isn't stereotypically similar to what black boy bands usually construct in terms of lyrical or sound construction and bands that break traditional moulds do not get honoured that much cause grammy companies are concerned about their reputation and do not want to promote a product that does not sell.

But they won several Billboard Music Awarde and Soul Train Awards. They are still talked about til this day like New Edition and so on. Jodeci were very popular in New Jack Swing 90s. And when Kci and Jojonbecame a duo they won an AMA award, Blockbuster award and were nominated for several Grammys. They were definitely honored and still perform at BET award shows for nostalgia

@DizzyDesii I don't follow boy bands in this music genre and I do not know how many awards they win, I am just going by this Question Asker's belief he does not know of any awards they won and then I tried to construct an explanation for why that belief might be true.

You're definitely right, addictions and abuse shouldn't be ignored or excused. What R Kelly did was messed up too. Crazy how he got away with it for so long in the industry.

I think with Jodeci, the issues they battled probably overshadowed their talent in the public eye. Which is a shame, cause like we said - the music was groundbreaking.

Addiction is a serious disease too, so it's hard to blame them fully. But you'd think the music accolades would separate from all that, you know? Hoping eventually Jodeci gets their flowers.

Even if it's posthumously, people should recognize what they brought to R&B and hip hop. Their influence is undeniable. But I get why the drama made them less "squeaky clean" for awards shows back in the day. Different times I guess.

They look like a bunch of gang bangers. Whether or not they actually were, they were obviously going for that image. Why would anyone honor them as role models for young people?
