What would you do with your own island?

With your own decent sized, country registered island, so your island is considered a new country, what would you do with It?

I would open a bank on the island so that wealthy businessmen from around the world could keep their money tax-free. I would collect a substantial amount in annual fees in order to keep the island running. I would then start a crisis on the island by manufacturing a famine or some other humanitarian crisis. I would then ask the US and other G7 nations for aid in order to help all the hurting people in my country. Of course, the monies would come to me directly but I would invest 12% of it in the community by building a statue of myself for being so brave to get foreign aid so that they didn’t starve to death and then keep the other 88% for myself as a finders fee. When the crisis worsens, I would then ask for more financial aid and blame capitalism and America for doing all this to the poor. I would then offer my offshore bank accounts to the politicians that get my aid delivered to me. This would help insure that the aid never ends by blaming America for the problems on my island.

Invest in it, build a resort, eventually grow it into a resort paradise, make a mansion on it with the fat stacks of cash I got, then start turning it into a permanent living place for others. Create a government, make other small businesses, infrastructure etc. In no time I’ll have a prosperous society

I would've created a reality tv show on the island but that's been done, killed, revived like 15 different times.

I'd have sexy people invited on to it and host margarita, taco, orgy parties. Win win win for everyone.

I’d want to create my own version of Tony Stark's Malibu Mansion and work from there.

I’ll be sure that there’s reliable transportation on and off the island as well as medical staff and security personnel on standby.

I’ll have luxurious accommodations for whoever’s working on the island.

It’ll be like Google Office meets luxury resort.

Very few opportunities. It would depend on what resources it has. Possibly a resort/casino if it is a pleasant climate. Set up nefarious money laundering banks. Lots of things are poss.

There is no land that isn't owned by a country (save for Antarctica) so you cannot create your own NEW country. And considering you have no military my guess if you tried to start one that'd end pretty quickly.🤣

If it was a small island, I wouldn't develop it. I'd set it aside for conservation and eco-tourism. I wouldn't build any facilities, but people could come on day tours or to camp, so I'm at least making some money from it.

If it was larger, yeah, I think it would be cool to develop it and populate it and turn it into its own country, assuming I would get recognized by the EU, which is extremely unlikely, but I could at least turn it into a commune.

That depends on how much money I have to develop it. I would probably declare myself the king of the island and have it be a high-class resort country like UAE or Monaco.
