So when you see something disgusting what's your country's sound of revulsion?
American's, does it vary from state to state?

I find the map interesting since "pfui" which sounds probably like the Polish "Fuj!" or the Hungarian "pfuj!". Like the Belgish and "bah" in the Netherlands in Germany "bäh" is another expression of the disgust.
All three of them are probably equally in use.
In Belgium:
- "Pouah !" in French
- "Eike !" or "Beike" or "Eike vies" in Flemish (phonetic)
"Foei" in Dutch has not exactly the same significance, being rather an expression of disapproval, sometimes going towards a slight disgust.
I imagine if the expression of disgust isn’t something like “ewww!” Or “gross!” It’s probably something like “Eugh!” From deep in the back of the throat
Well you answered mine lol. Also we can use those words to describe the political mess rn 😂

How does 'Ych a fi' sound @purplepoppy ?
In New Zealand it's mostly "eww", the more prolonged the 'ewwwww' the more the feeling of disgustedness !
Ch is like ch in loch or choir so kinda like a K but not quite. Fi is vee so "iK a vee" which Google Translate weirdly translates as "an ox and me"
Diolch @purplepoppy , that all kind of makes sense
There are many expressions here. I usually go with eww.
What's your thoughts about Cameron being back? 🤣

It probably does vary a little from state to state, from damn to s$#t to f&*k. The f-word is becoming more and more common.
