Is it because coyotes don't pursue songbirds, but they do deter cats and other animals that might prey on songbirds?
Not sure about coyotes but I know wolves and ravens often team up. And many wolves will have one raven they’re friends with
I guess coyotes scare away other predetors like cats.

Probably because the critters coyotes eat tend to eat songbirds, so more coyotes means fewer songbird-eating critters.

Why responsible pet owners keep their cat inside.
They kill the cats who would otherwise eat the birds.
