Do robins build nests in the same place every year?

The ones by me use the same nest every year. They build it up sometimes, so it gets taller and taller, but it's the same nest. It's there year around, but they only use it when brooding.
They love building nests above the outdoor lights on the house. It's nice and safe under the eaves. I've had as many as four at one time on top of my outdoor lights.
By the way, if you see baby birds flopping around on the ground under their nest, they are not injured. They are learning to fly. In the nest they start flapping their wings to strengthen them. Eventually they flap enough to flip out of the nest onto the ground. They continue flapping around until eventually they fly.
Not extra rooms. They just add more on top of the old nest. I think sometimes it's just repair, which makes it taller. Other times they build an entire new nest on top of the old one.
Probably depends on the sub-species. We had robins in our garden in England for my whole childhood, generational nesting ground. But in South Africa some years we have them, others we don't. The difference is the sub-species. European robins are apparently more territorial than African robins.
Neither is migratory. As far as I know none of the robin family migrate. That's why they're in your garden at Christmas at both ends of the planet!

It probably is. In the US it is illegal to disturb migratory birds, so leave it alone.
They only live for two years so it's unlikely to be the same bird.
Now you have got me a good one!
Because of my sheer honesty my answer is simply,
