Who pays attention to the WARNING on PLASTIC BAGS?

Here in the United States, and many other countries, manufacturers are legally required to put a Suffocation Warning on plastic bags.

Does your country requires these warnings?

Do you pay attention to them?

Dearest Tom: I've only seen this warning on bags from dry cleaners.

If we're talking about young children, a grocery bag would be enough to suffocate them! No warning on them. And large bags from Macy's are big enough for a 3 year old to climb into. No warning on those plastic bags either.

Wow! No warning of any kind on the black plastic name-brand trash bags I use for my tall kitchen trash can. Nor the small kitchen bags I use daily at my job. Again, all large enough for an adult to suffocate in... There's no consistency on any bags I've seen from stores, or for home use.

I don't know about my country, but the country where I live requires these warnings. I think it's useful even thought sometimes we can't avoid accidents.
And yes, I pay attention to them.

How many times do you need to read that? That would be once wouldn't it.

I might be concerned for my cat but he is very good at clawing plastic bags. And impressively neatly. Long thin stripes that I wouldn't be able to duplicate with scissors

I used to pass them out to babies every Saturday... then i read the warning and felt like a jerk

Unless you use a load of duct tape to get a good seal around the neck pain there's zero chance of suffocation

You are SOOOOO wrong! The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received average annual reports of twenty-five deaths per year to children due to suffocation from plastic bags. Nearly 90% of the reported deaths were to children under the age of one (1). Plastic bags can suffocate a person if the bag completely covers their mouth and nose, so sealing the bag around the neck is NOT required to suffocate a person. Additionally, indiscriminate discarding of plastic kills untold numbers of animals!

I don't but I simply assume all plastic bags can be dangerous to animals, kids, the environment, etc.

A lot of plastic bags in the US don't have that warning, and because most people don't pay attention to it, and most babies aren't dumb enough to put a bag on their heads, no one notices.

I pay as much attention to the warnings on plastic as I pay to the warnings in Sterno cans that I should not eat them.
