Is it weird that my electrical engineer husband can't fix the fan?

LoL no, it's not that weird

I felt the same when my pilot wife asked me to teach her driving a car haha

But it's just different things... Electrical engineers deal with the scientific and technical aspects and are more into understanding how things work and inventing or creating new things... Electrical engineers might fail at repairing a fan but they can invent new technologies related to it (BLDC fans)

Electricians are trained for repairing and I am sure Electrical engineers can be good at it with little effort

I have a 'lec eng degree and I'd probably consider it not worth doing. If the bearings are the issue definitely not worth doing. I'd so far as replacing the plug only. As an 'lec eng you are not licenced to wire homes - only electricians are.

Recently I replaced a burnt out bathoom fan and a light fitting that was shorting and I called in electrician to do that because it is just worth the insurance implications.
