Not the Metro, Tube or Subway. I mean the old school steam locomotives and engines. The ones with coal and steam. And pistons.
Those are very beautiful.
It's a shame most people do not care about them anymore...

I love them.
The only steam trains I've ridden on are the Skunk Train along the Mendocino coast in California,

and the one at Knott's Berry Farm in Ca.

They are both narrow gauge.
I've been to railroad museums and seen others running.
I was friends with Utah Phillips, a singer, song writer and story teller who rode the rails all over the country as a hobo for a few years when he got home from the Korean War.
He loved trains and mourned their passing.
Here's a song he wrote
.
I love trains
Love them. More comfy and experience is better than on buses
We still use them here, particularly in the north.
In the UK?
Yes, They're maintained and run by enthusiasts. We've 12 services in wales, mostly used by tourists to jump from village to village. I think there's around 200 little services around the uk.

They are great. My dad took my brother and I to a railroad museum when we were about 7, I need to go back one day. My roommate used to work for the railroad and has been on almost every steam locomotive that's still operational in the US. I'm jealous
Actually I do like trains. They are and always have been essential to economy. Why people don't care about trains?
1. With them you have need of far less infrastructure of roads.
2. Truckers will be restricted to just intra city transport.
3. Toll taxes will be less so people hate trains.
4. Less road maintenance as heavy loads will be on train. So, maintenance cost will be low and maintenance department is not happy with this as budget goes down.
5. With trains like the Hejaz Railway connecting India almost all the way to Berlin (never completed) meant no air travel required. So, that is impossible as Nationalism and borders of artificiality have left much of the world divided.
6. Car manufacturers and bus are affected as they would have less cars to sell if people can simply travel between cities by trains.
7. Less land acquisition is required as train tracks require much less space compared to a a 6 lane motorway or highway.
Yes, trains have been the basis of my career.
You work on the railway?
I've worked with rail transit systems... as a supplier of equipment and systems.
I have a friend who could talk your ear off about trains in general lol.
I have taken Amtrak a couple of times. A few years ago I took the train to New York City. It was nice trip.
When I was in Seattle several years ago, saw a steam engine and train operating there on a regular basis in snoqualmie falls. Beautiful site. Love trains also.
Yeah, my father is obsessed with steam trains used to volunteer on a heritage line before I was born
I love trains!
The steam engines?
Proper steam locos, definitely
If only they were reliable 😪
