Depends on the TV really, some tv speakers are garbage, some are decent. It is far better just to get a decent soundbar. I do not think I have used TV speakers for ages.

  Ok when I turn off surround mode on my tv in games the people who speak in the game sound more clear

  It’s really down to you, your tv, what you watch, listen to and your ears. I know a sound bar with Dolby would wipe the floor with pretty much all tv speakers.

We have a 7:1 surround sound system that makes it impossible for me to watch any TV without it. TV speakers are generally awful.
