Should I keep my rca hdtv or get a smart tv?

How old is the rca? None of us has enough money to be at the cutting edge all the time and it is more cost effective to buy at the rolling off edge. Do you really want to watch youtube videos etc on your TV. Do you want streaming channels. Probably you do need a smart TV then. You can work around with a computer but it is a pain in the ass eventually.

I'd also suggest staying with the crowd and not buy a YOUBEAUT brand TV. I have no complaints with my android TV and the android market is more competitive.

A venerable tv. I can understand a reluctance to chuck it but the days of buying a tv and keeping it are long gone, they don't last that long anyway. It is purely a functional decision. Would you use streaming services or continue to watch free to air and dvds. Your rca will do the later fine. Personally I find most of netflix rubbish and trying to find something I will enjoy watching difficult.

Subscriptions are expensive if you sign up to a lot of them. Individually they are cheap, say $10/month but 10 of them at $100/month is not so cheap.

The price point is important given we are going to swap out frequently. I can illustrate that best with computers. Processors still enter the market at $1000 to $1500. 18 months later that processor might leave at between $100-$200. So buying the best is a bad idea and you drop round about $1000 in 18 months for buying at the high end that you would have saved by deferring the purchase.

Plus the very lowest computers are good enough for emails, GAG and browsing. Only if you are a high end gamer are you going to get something of value for a high end rig.

We are in the age of good enough computing. And that applies to visuals as well. The higher definition video formats are more incremental improvements than huge step changes to SD. I judge video by whether I can see a strand of a girls hair. But do I need to? No it is just a real life quality measure I have. We are in the age of good enough video.

The same applies to audio. Are your ears HiFi? We are certainly in the age of good enough audio.

The most significant change to me is OLED because of the superb contrast it gives makes it a small step up. But I won't be buying one till the prices drop.

Be economic in buying tech and don't be a fan boy queuing over night to buy the latest apple. And of course you can buy addons for your rca. I don't know the US market on those.

Yeah i agree too my rca can do 720p and 1080p as well

I don't know how old the RCA is but, as far as I know, all the newer stuff of the past 20-some years has a camera built in that you can't see so you're being watched, even with the t. v. shut off!! Your cell phone has the same tech and probably your computer monitors.

Well, you could buy an add on device that goes in a USB port on the TV. Both Roku and Amazon have such devices.
