Should I be concerned?

So I was using an exact knife. And it slipped, and I accidentally stabbed the front of my thumb. Left like a half an inch slit. And I quickly got a band aid and closed it tight. Is it worth concerning? I haven’t opened my bandaid yet to see it but the bleeding stopped immediately after I put it on. Would it close itself?

Ah man that sucks, knife cuts can be scary. As long as the bleeding stopped right away after putting the bandaid on, I wouldn't be too concerned. Finger cuts bleed a lot even if they're small.

I'd leave the bandaid on overnight just to be safe. Keep an eye on it tomorrow - if it's not really red or swollen around the edges, you're probably fine. Just keep it clean and don't mess with the bandaid too much.

Finger cuts usually close up pretty quick on their own. Our hands heal fast. As long as it's not super deep or you can see anything inside the cut, it should seal back together in a few days. Just take it easy on that thumb for a bit.

If it starts bleeding again or you see anything funky like pus or it gets really hot/painful, maybe hit up one of those nurse chat things online just to double check. But honestly it sounds minor enough that some Neosporin and time is all it'll need. You'll be alright dude!

Tgoughts: If it had microbes on its blade , if you didn't wash the wound enough and/or if your immune system can't deal with them, then they will infect your thumb, perhaps spreading elsewhere.

If I were in your situation and I could afford the time and expense, I'd go to urgent care to have it examined and possibly treated. I'd certainly do a round of Wim Hof breathing, take a cold shower and keep an eye on the thumb without putting it into dirty liquids like dishwater for 24 hours and see if it had signs of infection (a strangely high amount of pain, redness, swelling or even pus).

If it hasn’t bled through the bandage, then I wouldn’t be worried. Take the bandage off tomorrow and have a look at what damage was done.

Nah, not a big problem unless you are on blood thinners OR it becomes infected.

Take the bandaid off, wash the wound with hydrogen peroxide (if you have it, it won't hurt), out an antibiotic cream on the wound, then bandage it again.
