Can anyone actuallyoverdraft on a checking account nearly five grand?

My sister messaged me the other day that my housemates mortgage company overdrafted her checking account by automatically withdrawing $5000 from her bank account. Is that even possible? I ask her to show proof but she said her phone is broken or stolen.

I imagine that some bank somewhere will load up some kid on a 5000 over draft and charge him plenty when he or she uses it.

It would depend on what your overdraft protection is. Mine is $2000 if I remember correct.

Yes that can happen with auto payments. If it stays that way for awhile the bank account will close and become a creditor.

Probably not unless she has good credit with the bank but it’s going to be expensive interest on it

Most banks will not allow that much to be over drawn.

If they have the overdraft allowance then sure
